Some people find joy and happiness in the wrong things like sex outside marriage, drugs, perversion, abortion, immorality, witchcraft and such. This is very selfish and destructive. There's more to life than being happy.

There are many different forms of love. Agape, Philia, and Eros. So eros is not necessary, yet philia, which is family, and agape which is unconditional, are not predicated by sex and romance.
