REALITY CON 2023 in Tokyo Report

Hey Everyone! I'm Thomas, your English Community Manager, and I've got some content to share! On November 25 and 26, 2023, Tokyo came alive with the magic of our latest REALITY CON 2023, and guess what? We've got the inside scoop just for you!

Nestled in the iconic Tokyo Skytree, our event was a feast for the senses. Now, we know not everyone could be there in person but fear not! We've cooked up something special to bring the Tokyo vibes straight to you. Get ready to dive into the heart of REALITY CON 2023 with our exclusive report!

The purpose behind REALITY CON 2023 in Tokyo

At REALITY, we live by the mantra, 'We can be whoever we want.' It's not just a saying; it's a commitment to creating a space where individuality thrives. REALITY CON 2023 in Tokyo had the base theme of “A Cultural Festival created by everyone”, and following that theme, we had several exhibits that had the objective of turning that motto into a reality (pun intended):

  • Art Exhibitions: A canvas for artists who bring REALITY to life daily.

  • Screenshot Exhibitions: A showcase for streamers, sharing their memorable moments and creative edits.

  • Hand-made Goods Exhibition: Celebrating the craftsmanship of REALITY users and fans.

  • Event Club Exhibitions: A stage for singers, talkers, and avatar enthusiasts.

  • Props and Photo Spots: Bridging the realms of REALITY and real life for an immersive experience.

  • Message Board: A hub for your signs, memories, and everything you want to share about the offline event. Fun fact: In previous editions, we even brought this board to our office!

With all of the opportunities to be featured in the REALITY CON 2023 in Tokyo, more than 200 users were featured in the exhibits above! 
Without further ado, let’s check out our REALITY CON 2023 in Tokyo Report!

Entering the venue

As mentioned, our REALITY CON took place at Solamachi Space 634, nestled within the renowned Tokyo Skytree Solamachi. Situated at the foot of the Tokyo Skytree, the "Tokyo Skytree Town" is a multi-level mall boasting approximately seven floors, offering a plethora of shops and restaurants. This provided the REALITY CON attendees with an opportunity to enjoy various attractions before or after the event, making it an ideal destination for friends looking to have a good time together!

After joining the venue, the users received their real-life rewards! As everyone probably imagined, the Bear Headgear was a favorite. You could select one of the three in the following picture:

The Standing Bear was cute and wobbly so it was my favorite! Which one would you choose?

The Bear Headgear was definitely a hit at the event!

As everyone who checked the news knows, the event was divided into 6 parts, each lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes, and you selected what section you wanted to take part in.
On the 25th and 26th of November, that’s how we divided each part of the event:

1st part: 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM
2nd part: 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM
3rd part: 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM
4th part: 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM
5th part: 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM
6th part: 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM

While waiting for your turn to join the venue, the REALITY CON “Promotion Team Entrance Video” was played while everyone was waiting.

Handmade Goods Corner

Upon entering the venue, what caught our eyes was nothing short of magical—a magnificent Golden Bear! Believe it or not, this incredible creation was just one of the many handmade wonders showcased in our Handmade Goods Corner, crafted by talented REALITY users. Can you believe the artistry and skill that went into making such a masterpiece?

Screenshot and Fan Art Corner

Next, decorating the side walls of the hall, we could see the Screenshot and Fan Art Corners. With over 50 frames containing screenshots, edits, memories, and amazing drawings, you can immerse yourself in the creativity of our talented community members. Each frame tells a unique story, capturing the essence of REALITY users' experiences and artistic expressions.

As you stroll through these corners, you'll find a kaleidoscope of emotions and creativity displayed by our users. From beautifully crafted fan art to snapshots of unforgettable moments within REALITY, the Screenshot and Fan Art Corners serve as a testament to the vibrant and diverse community that makes REALITY truly special.

Check out the passion and talent of our users who leap off the frames, turning the walls into a dynamic gallery that celebrates the creativity and connection shared within the REALITY community.

As a bonus, the users selected to be featured in the Screenshot and Fan Art Corner received a copy of their own piece to use as a piece of furniture inside the app, in the REALITY Room!

Photo Spot

Right at the center of the venue, a captivating Photo Spot awaited our users. Featuring three iconic backgrounds beloved by our community, this central hub became a setting for capturing memorable moments. Bringing REALITY's virtual gifts to life, various props were strategically placed, providing attendees with the perfect photo opportunities.

From embracing REALITY's adorable Bear to striking a pose with our Community Manager IKURA or taking a picture with your very own avatar, the Photo Spot offers a unique chance for users to blend the virtual and real world.

Also, some of the users took the chance to ask IKURA to strike a pose and take a selfie with their avatar and IKURA!

And why not try taking a picture with your own avatar?

Avatar Signage

Have you ever dreamt of moving your entire avatar body? Well, at the REALITY CON 2023 in Tokyo Venue, that dream became a reality! Witnessing the joy on users' faces as their avatars came to life on the big screen, and groups of friends snapping pictures or dancing together with their avatars, was truly the highlight of the event for me.

Simply by scanning the QR code in your REALITY profile, your avatar is seamlessly loaded onto the big screen, giving you the freedom to move it as you please! The avatar signage technology is exclusive to REALITY's Offline Events, so we've prepared some videos to provide a glimpse into the feeling of moving your avatar's entire body!

Real-Time Event Club

Our users already know and love the REALITY Event Club. During the REALITY CON in Tokyo, a big vertical monitor was set up in the venue and several Event Club projects were aired during the whole 2 days of the event!
From singing streams to counseling sessions and round table discussions, there was a lot to be watched during each part of the event.
One thing that surprised me was that a Japanese user did something similar to the internationally popular Avatar Rating, even though it is not a common type of stream on the Japan server!

REALITY Timeline Poster and Message Board

As we approach the conclusion of our REALITY CON 2023 in Tokyo journey, let's take a moment to reflect on the cherished memories captured in our REALITY Timeline Poster. This poster encapsulates all of the big updates and memorable events we had since REALITY started until the time of the REALITY CON 2023 in Tokyo.

The timeline is in Japanese, but we can see how much REALITY evolved in the past 5 years!

Next, the REALITY Message Board stands as a testament to the heartwarming memories forged during the event. Each message, drawing, sign, and more left by our dear community serves as a tangible memento for the REALITY CON 2023 in Tokyo.
Just seeing how many people left their mark in the event warms my heart!
