パレイドリア（Pareidolia）とは、視覚や聴覚の刺激によって、不明瞭な対象から意味のある具体的な像を認識してしまう知覚現象です。

たとえば、雲の形が顔に見えたり、壁のしみが動物に見えたりする現象などがパレイドリアに該当します。

パレイドリアの語源は、ギリシャ語のパラ（para）とエイドロン（eidolon）で、パラは「～の側に、～に似る、疑似の」という意味、エイドロンは「幻影、形、理想像」という意味です。
