Advantages of Using Heat Shrink Wrap

Heat shrink wrap consists of a wide variety of plastic materials that are designed to shrink when heat is applied. The most common types of plastics used are polyolefin, PVC, polyethylene, and polypropylene. Shrink wrap is used for many products like food, beverages, books, boxes, machinery, etc. The usage of proper film, material thicknesses, and machines can help make shrink wrapping more cost-efficient and compact. They are available in many varieties of strengths, transparency, and thicknesses. Various examples of heat shrink wrap are centerfold shrink wrap, shrink tubing, shrink bags, or even marine shrink wrap rolls, and many more.

It is so versatile and apart from the normal usage, a few things that unbelievably can be shrink wrapped are:

• Buildings and Concrete Materials
Heat shrink wrap can protect industrialised concrete materials used in buildings and houses. It is also to seal buildings as a disaster contingency after natural calamities like an earthquake or a tornado. It helps to quarantine the structure from chemicals and other hazardous materials.
• Marine Industry
It is used to cover and weatherproof boats for storage and transport to prevent damage from various climatic conditions.
• Sealing
Heat-shrink tubing is a shrinkable plastic tube used to insulate wires, providing abrasion resistance, environmental protection, and prevent them from splicing.

Few Advantages of Using Heat Shrink Wrap Are:
1. Cost-effective
Shrink wrap is designed to minimise space and keep products bundled together without the use of additional materials. This feature helps in saving money both in storage and transport.
2. Labelling
Shrink wraps are often used for labelling because they can easily take the shape of the product they are wrapping. Shrink sleeves are a specific type of product label that is heat-wrapped around an entire product
3. Protection
On heating, the shrink wrap forms a tight seal covering the product within. Once sealed, the product is safe from dust, dirt, or moisture. Few shrink wrap types help to keep your products safe from the sun’s harmful rays due to their UV protection functionality.

Shrink wrap is difficult to tear or puncture as it is made from durable plastic. They do not become brittle or weaken when exposed to extreme heat or cold. The seal does not loosen or sag over a period of time.
5. Tampering
Shrink wrap both seals and holds their shape once applied, so any tampering of the cargo will be noticed. Tamper evident shrink wrap, a form of shrink wrap changes colour when the material is cut or stretched. This provides additional security to prevent tampering with cargo.
