Diary 1
I went to Proto Village, Andhra Pradesh, India sometime in September as an impromptu assistant for an aspiring film-maker to assist with the sound capturing with a Tascam DR-40X recorder. I was nervous through the sessions due to the expensiveness of the tool in my hands, however it was first time handling the recorder with its physical & digital interface. I had prior knowledge of software interfaces so it was easier to understand the digital interface. It took me the entire two days that was planned by Aravinth, the documentary film-maker who happened to be a friend of a senior alumnus of my department from post-graduation.
My knowledge gap was huge due to my inexperience in handling sound capturing tool so I had to test, validate, tweak the capturing methods while I was seriously on the job for giving decent output for his use in a documentary which he has been carefully planning to shoot in appropriate weather. He had a friend Niranjan at the village as one of the few instructors who've been associated with the organisation for some time.
The weather turned out to be windy & sparsely rainy so most of the captured sounds at indoors varied highly from those captured in the outdoors. I'm hoping I could have done a decent job for his works as it has been something he's been taking time for documenting as a planned, detailed & guide-based work.
