"I want to see more beautiful scenery of Japan" - GEONU

JUST B, a powerful Korean boy group, has appeared on TV LIFE magazine. Here’s a part of the interview prior to the issue of the magazine, only available here online.

Q: First of all, please tell me the characteristics of the JUST B group.
D: The characteristic of the group is that each of us has a different charm.

L: Each of us has full confidence, so people can see our synergy derived from our chemical reaction when we all get together.

Q: Now, what each of you think your "charms" are?
G: I'm cute.
Everyone: (laughs).
L: Yeah, that's right.
S: I am bubbly.
L: I think I have two opposite sides.
D: I'm a "ten-sai".
L & G: Ten-sai?
S: (Speaking in Korean) It means "genius".
L & G: Ah! (Laughs)
D: ...I'm sorry (laughs)

Q: Your 2nd mini album Just BEGUN has doubled sales compared to your previous albums. In your opinion, what’s the appeal of the album?
G: "JUST BEGUN" has different vibes from the previous albums. It's an album with various charms. Also, the album contains an attractive song called "Lights On", which was dedicated to ONLY B (Fandom name).

Q: DY, you released a video of a song in August in celebration of your fandom’s first anniversary. Can you tell me about your process of making that song?
D: I created this song to celebrate ONLY B’s first anniversary, made it into a music video and released it on YouTube. I originally wrote it only to comfort myself and cheer myself up. Then, I wanted to share my emotions which I incorporated into the song with ONLY B, so I decided to make a video for their anniversary and gave it to them.

Q: This is your first visit to Japan as a group. Is there anything you want to eat or want to do during your visit to Japan?
G: I want to experience both beautiful Japanese streets and music. The place we filmed today (for the magazine) was so pretty....it's not flattering, it's true! (Laughs) Really. I'd like to see more beautiful Japanese scenery like that.

D: Now that I'm in Japan, I want to eat “Gyudon (Beef rice bowl)”. I also want to eat Ramen, and pudding from the convenience store (lol). I would like to visit “Tokyo Tower” in Tokyo, which is a symbol of the city. It’s just like the landmark tower "N Seoul Tower" in Namsan in South Korea.

L: I would like to eat “Sukiyaki (Hot pot with meat, tofu and veggies in a soy-based sauce)”. Also, I would like to take subways and trains in Japan. For now, I am just watching the trains from the window of the hotel by myself (lol).

S: I wanted to eat “Dango (Ball-shaped mochi cake)”. I then happened to find them here today in the dressing room, so I ate them all lol. I've never tried them before, but I had looked them up on the Internet.

Q: What you had today was Mitarashi Dango (coated with soy-sauce-based caramel). We also have Anko Mochi (Sweet bean paste Dango) and Zunda Mochi (Edamame paste Dango). What flavor did you want to try, Sangwoo?
S: Aha, “Anko (Sweet bean paste)” was a Japanese word! (Laughs). I still don't really know much about Dangos, but it sounds like that there are many flavors, so I'd like to try various kinds.

Q: What is your favorite Japanese food?
S: Sushi and... Dango!
D: I guess Ramen.
G: I like Okonomiyaki (Savory pancake with meat and veggies).
L: I like Japanese hot pots.

Q: There are many kinds of hot pot – which one is your favorite?
G: Kimchi Pot?
Everyone except Geonu laughs.
G: (With a confused look, and says in Japanese:) Kimchi Pot is delicious!
L: That’s fusion food. Fusion! (Laughs)
D: That’s already a Korean pot! (Laughs)
Everyone: (Laughs).
L: There is “Millefeuille Pot (Hot pot with sliced pork meat and sliced Chinese cabbage leaves layered alternatively)” in Japan, right? I am going to try as many hot pots as I can this time.
