Things To Do When You Become a First-Time Dad
Congratulations! You’ve just started your journey as a new dad, after nine months’ long wait. You haven’t forgotten the night of your child’s birth. You understand that your newly born little one is sensitive and delicate. You can feel connected when your baby gives out the first cry. The daddy-baby bond just enhances when you get to hold the new guest during the “Golden Hour,” share the warmth of your skin and let them enjoy the calmness of your heartbeat.
So, all the new daddies on the block, while you enjoy the benefits of father-baby bonding, here are your to-do-lists:
Bottle-feed the baby
As you’ve witnessed your partner breastfeed the baby continuously and desire some rest, you take charge and bottle-feed the little one. Schedule the feedings in such a way that, it is in sometime during the day or at night.
Sooth the Newborn as They Cry
The minute anybody sees the newborn getting fussy and cranky, family members and friends tend to give the baby to the mother. No doubt! A mom’s instinct about her child can never go wrong. The new dad can gently rock, sing, and make funny faces to forge a unique relationship with the little one.
A Gentle Massage to the Newborn
Touch is your baby’s favourite sensation and it automatically gains you favour. So, if your little one feels cranky or irritated or maybe there is a pain somewhere around the baby’s body and the mother is tired, you can give the baby a gentle massage. Focus on the tiny legs, arms, back, and belly while you’re massaging the baby.
Plan a Routine for Your Little One
Newborns are more habituated to the routine with their mothers. It could be changing diapers, or making them fall asleep. However, to promote healthy bonding between the new daddy and the newborn, include a new routine. So, enjoy playtime with them. Tell them bedtime stories. Change the diapers before you go to bed. You can also give the baby a soothing bath.
Initially, everything would be difficult both for you and your baby. With some time and space, you’ll be able to develop innovative tips and ideas about new parenting.
