Who Wants Osaka Expo 2025? — PART 2

Danger

I talked about how useless Osaka Expo 2025 was before. The place is dangerous in many ways. Osaka prefectural governor and Osaka mayor, both are members of the Japan Ishin Party, really want to build infrastructures in the island for inviting a company of IR. However, things have gotten more serious than I expected.

There was an explosion at a construction site on March 28th.( Explosion at a construction site ) A building for toilet facilities was going up there. About 100 square meters of the concrete floor were blasted. It was caused by METHANE GAS from the soil of Yumeshima, which is an artificial island that was built with the garbage dumped by households and factories in Osaka prefecture decades ago.

The methane gas is colorless and odorless. It is lighter than air, so it is no problem as long as it goes into the air in an open space. But when it stays in a closed space and reaches a certain density, it easily explodes with a tiny spark while nobody notices it.

After the accident, it was reported that Osaka Prefectural Governor Yoshimura said that he knew about the gas emitting in the site and the accident was caused by a malfunction of the gas detector. He and the Osaka Expo Committee seemed to make it as if it were not such a serious accident and Osaka local media were also complicit in the pretense. While looking at the photo of the eduction pipe ( a real eduction pipe of the site ), things are more dangerous than they thought. How could they deal with welding hereafter?

Transportation issues

People will be banned from going by individual car into the Osaka Expo place. The Committee has already announced that the shuttle bus system from another island should be operated to guarantee access there. Though recruitment notification of 180 bus drivers for the system was released recently, 80 people only applied for it so far when it is less than a year before the given date of opening now.

It has been a long time since there was an issue of shortage of drivers for transportation, tourism and logistics. If enough drivers are not recruited, what will happen and how will they deal with it? I would say that the Committee’s ability to make plans and carry them out is too poor.

Unpopularity

The tickets have already gone on sale (ticket selling site ), however, the sales seem not going good. According to a survey (A survey of Expo ) conducted by Mitsubishi Research Institute, or MRI, for researching the event’s recognition and expectation, only 27 % of the respondents answer yes to the question, ‘if you are interested in the event’.

According to the Osaka Pavilion’s theme ‘REBORN’, health care staff will be exhibited there. ( Osaka Pavilion HP ) The Osaka Prefectural Governor has already announced that he would invite all students of public schools in Osaka to the event for free. He also said that visitors can experience cutting-edge regenerative medicine and life science.

I doubt this free invitation so much: will the Committee pretend to be a good population with the students? Or letting the students EXPERIENCE something about future medicine and science for free, will the exhibiting companies collect their biological data, e.g. their DNA?

I don’t trust the Osaka Pavilion because of Mr. Ryuichi Morishita, who is the general producer of the pavilion: He was a founder of Anges, a biological venture company in Osaka. He also drew an amount of money (7,500,000,000 yen) from the Abe administration in 2021 for a program in which his team would develop a new vaccine for COVID-19. After all, his team failed: they didn’t even reach a clinical trial and they withdrew from the vaccine developing program.

Keep children and students away from it

Osaka Expo 2025 is so dangerous in many ways that you should keep children and students away from it.
