(Genesis 1:28) And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. 
(創世記1:28) 神は彼らを祝福し、彼らに言われた、「実を結び、ふやし、地に満ち、これを治め、海の魚、空の鳥、地の上を動くすべての生き物を支配しなさい」

According to the Oxford Dictionary, to subdue means “overcome, quieten, or bring under control (a feeling or person) or bring (a country or people) under control by force.” This shows that when the word "subdue" is used there might be something that must be checked otherwise that force, being, person, or artifact may have the better of you. 
オックスフォード辞典によれば、"subdue "とは「（感情や人を）打ち負かす、静める、支配下に置く、（国や人々を）力によって支配下に置く」という意味である。従わせる」という言葉が使われるとき、何か抑えなければならないものがあるのかもしれない。

When God created man, He told man to be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, and subdue it. After this He told man to dominate the fish of the sea, the fowl of the air, and every living thing that moves upon the earth. Words like subdue and dominate point to ruling and reigning as an authority on this earth. The thing is you either rule over things or they rule over you. Some interesting synonyms of the word “subdue” are "conquer, overcome, overpower, repress, restrain, suppress, tame, control, discipline, dominate, and quieten".

So, when God told man to subdue the earth, He was saying, begin to conquer, overcome, overpower, repress, restrain, suppress, tame, control, discipline, dominate, and quieten the earth for if you don’t there are forces in it that will rise against you. It is interesting to note that when God took His children to their promised land, He gave them portions of lands or earth to live on. In the same manner, God has allocated a portion of this earth for you, but you must subdue it. Subdue the earth in prayer now. Halleluyah!

Confession: I have subdued my portion of land on this earth. I have been given dominion over the fishes of the sea, the fowls of the air, and every living thing that moves upon the earth. No force on this earth can overthrow me for I am firmly grounded on my seat of glory by the power of the Holy Ghost. Halleluyah!
