i just watched this film for the first time, and i wish i had discovered it sooner. i always seem to put off films i really wanna watch but im so glad i actually sat down and put this on. now my mind is filled of happy images, like gigantic leaves, ant-infested sugar cubes, tiny hands wrapped around a small finger, and cracks on the walls. the ending was so bittersweet, seeing sho and arrietty part ways. change is inevitable but goodbyes are always so poignant. this film makes me feel like a child once again. i really wish they could've stayed friends. i wish arrietty could've seen it through the end; the day after tomorrow. and for sho to keep protecting her as well. but the universe works in wondrous ways, even when it seems like its not on our side. so ill keep believing that they lived a good life after parting ways.
the animation was beautiful as always. to me, studio ghibli films always give such feelings of melancholy and nostalgia. im glad being able to experience these beautiful stories growing up(kikis delivery service was my favorite as a child)… the feelings in their films are so genuine and true to life, it makes you want to reach your hand out and comfort the characters on the screen. i love the green upon greeneries and as always the animation, which reminds me of some sort of watercolor utopian world. i wish i could live in this picturesque world.
