前作「ParkLife」に引き続き90年代ブリットポップを代表する作品。この作品、というかこの時期のBlurとoasisはUKロックシーンを牽引していた存在であり、お互いにライバル視？していたのだろう。シングルを同じ発売日にリリースして、刺激し合っていたりした。のちにブリットポップ戦争と言われるが、それが最も激しい時期の作品。ほぼ同時期にoasisが歴史的名盤「morning glory」をリリースする。もちろん、「The Great Escape」も素晴らしい作品。まー「morning glory」と比較するなら「Park Life」じゃないとフェアじゃないかもな。
そんな最中に作られた作品。おすすめは「Roll with it」に勝利した「Country House」で。もしoasisが勝つつもりあったら「WonderWall」か「Don’t Look Back in Anger」だったはず・・・。
