メンバー全員が関西（近畿地方）出身[注 6]で、関西出身グループとしてはKinKi Kids以来2組目となる。


2002年12月18日、横山裕・渋谷すばる・村上信五・錦戸亮・V.WEST（丸山隆平・安田章大・内博貴）が関西ジャニーズJr.として出演していたテレビ番組『J³ KANSAI』（関西テレビ）に大倉忠義が加入し、同時に8人編成で『関ジャニ8[注 7]』（読み同じ）を結成[8][9][10][11]。ジャニーズJr.内グループとして活動がスタートした。🚪🚪🚪
