Lake Biwa is located in Shiga Prefecture and is the largest lake in Japan by area and water storage capacity. It is a first-class river that belongs to the first-class water system, the Yodogawa River System. The Governor of Shiga Prefecture is in charge of management after being commissioned by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. A lake designated by the Act on Special Measures for Lake Water Quality Conservation and a wetland registered under the Ramsar Convention.💎
