The Gray City
I am from a gray city. Literally the adjective that is used to describe it as “gray” because that city has no shore. So they decided to decribe it as “gray” as if all cities in my country has a shore.
That gray city has lots of lakes and forests in the middle and is one of the most neat cities in my country. Known as the city of bureaucracy, known as the city of well mannered people, known as a lot yet still when people want to criticise it they call it gray.. as if being gray is a handicap.
May be it is why gray is one of the colors I love most. While watching the skies over the city while I grew up, I learnt to see how beautiful the gray is… I learnt to enjoy the details in the city they call as “dull”.
Then I found out, people are judging my city as being dull and gray because they think it does not deserve to be the capital. Up the them a city with “a shore next to sea” or a city with “crazy night life” is more proper to be a capital. It is not important for them if a city played a main role in one of the independence wars of a country or not. Then I saw how people even can get jealous of a “freaking” city even… a city.. which taught me how pitiful the humankind is…
I learnt to see the different colors in gray in that city. I learnt how beautiful can sth be even when it does not fit in the society’s understanding of beauty because I saw many years how beautiful that gray city IS altho it doesnt have a shore to the sea
