【Entrepreneurship Diary】 Vol.4 Startup Costs (Tools for Starting a Business)

This is the "Somehow Entrepreneurship Diary" written by CD, who was working for a Tokyo agency and now documents the process of starting an independent business. In this content, I will introduce the process leading up to entrepreneurship, realizations, failures, and more.

What tools are necessary for starting a business?

Even in this digital age, business cards are still needed when meeting clients, and having envelopes and letterheads is convenient for sending invoices and contracts in writing. While not necessarily required to spend money on these tools from the beginning, having them can contribute to branding. Of course, being in a creative profession, having well-designed and unique tools can potentially lead to future opportunities. In this entry, I will summarize the tools needed for starting a business.

Business Cards:

Business cards have multiple uses, not just for exchanging contacts with clients but also for submitting two cards when attending events or providing delivery information at hotels or during business trips. While I want to focus on creating a distinctive card later on, for the initial stage, I am considering using graphic designs from online printing services to keep costs low.

Address Stamp:

An address stamp is useful for documents like contracts and official letters. I will also research various suppliers for this.

Envelopes:

Envelopes are used for submitting documents and other communications. For starters, I will consider using both A4-size "angle-2 envelopes" and long-size #3 envelopes that can fit A3-size documents folded three times. I will look into purchasing them from the supplier, Hanemsha.

Logo Stickers:

Business cards alone might not leave a lasting impression, especially in more relaxed settings. Therefore, logo stickers are also essential tools to have. I will also explore using graphic designs from online printing services for these stickers.

Overall, setting aside around 50,000 yen should be sufficient.

Of course, various other items like red ink for the seal and stamps will also be necessary, but including all these small expenses, 50,000 yen should be enough to cover everything. If time permits, I plan to explore ways to minimize analog tools, such as adopting electronic invoicing.

That's all for this entry. Next time, I will discuss "Digital Tools for Starting a Business."
