Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. No.5 Kurobe Dam
Normally, I like to take my time and simply enjoy strolling around Murodo, but this time, the weather was perfect—neither too hot nor too cold, just right for being active with only a long-sleeved shirt. And with both the trolley bus and the sightseeing boat Garube making their final runs this year, I decided to go all the way to Kurobe Dam.
It was my first time visiting Kurobe Dam since I was in elementary school. Back then, I just remember it being huge… and even as an adult, the scale is still absolutely overwhelming.
I even got misted by the Kurobe Dam spray. To be honest, it made me feel a little dizzy! If you’re afraid of heights, you might find your legs shaking here.

Looking at the memorial, I couldn’t help but be amazed at how they managed to build such a massive dam in this challenging location. I think I’ll watch the movie "Kurobe no Taiyo" sometime to learn more about it. The film, released in 1968, depicts the incredible efforts and challenges faced by the workers who built the Kurobe Dam, showcasing their determination and spirit in overcoming various obstacles during its construction.
