Music has been with us from the beginning of time and music is what gave human beings
the ability to communicate.

Everyone is a natural born musician.

Music isn’t just about what the ear can listen to. Even when we were still in mommy's tummy, her heartbeat, her gentle stroke, the voice of someone, someone patting, we could feel it with our whole body floating in water.

If we could just remember this love for music, by taking care of it, expressing it and sharing it with others, music will always be on your side. It doesn’t matter if you are an unborn, toddler, child or a grownup, if you could feel it, music will be there for you even in your hardest times. it will accompany you on your wildest adventure. 

Musicand is a dream-come-true music school that I’ve been longing for, as a musician who started the piano at the age of four. It is for people of all age who wants to explore the universe of and through music.

I’ve been doing music for forty years, but that’s 'merely' forty years, I’m still on my journey with music. It would be my utmost joy if i could accompany your music more as a fellow music lover than a teacher off to a new adventure.

FUKUDA Yumi is Musicand’s host, a professional musician and development therapist. She had worked as a professional accompanist and music teacher in Tokyo for more than 10 years after her graduation from College of Music, Ferris University. After marriage, she joined her husband’s journey who quite his job at an asset management company and became a poet, artist, multimodal anthropologist. They traveled together around the globe to experience various cultures and people not as a tourist that hastily passes by but by experiencing to from inside as inside could be. They also lived in Manchester, U.K. and Musanze, Rwanda where she picked up eurythimics and Rwandan traditional music. Coming back to Japan, now that everything she has done is falling into one piece, pointing to one direction, she presents Musicand, a place for music, art and free mind.

We sing, we rhyme. We dance, we act. At musicand, your little one will jiggle, wiggle giggle with loads of fun experiences. Non-Japanese speakers are more than welcome, you needn't speak Japanese, all you need is joy for music and love for people. Let’s have fun together with musics from all over our blue planet!
