「外部にいる事は悪くない、なぜならよりハッキリ見える事もある、外部に立ってこそ。同時に、私はしばしば思う、どんなふうにこの町は私には見えるのだろうと、もし私が現地人だったら、旅人ではなく。」

　和訳
「外部に立っているからこそハッキリ見えるものがあるのだから、それは悪いことではないのだが、同時に、もし私が現地人ではなく旅人だったらこの町は私にはどう見えるのだろうと考える事もよくある。」
