1　ポピー横丁の仲間たち The Friends of Poppy Alley

　わたしはシバイヌモモ　ステキな仲間を紹介しますね！ I am Momo the Shiba Inu. Let me introduce you to some wonderful friends!

お家の人達がお仕事でお出かけしているあいだ留守番をするのが
わたしの重要なお仕事です。となり近所もついでに見張っていますから　まあいろんなことがあるんですよ。楽しいこととか怖いこととか・・・

・ハトのクックルの訪問
『あらお久しぶり　クックル夫人じゃありませんか。』
ハトのクックル夫人が久しぶりに訪ねてきました。でも今日はダンナさんと一緒ではないようです。どうしたのかしら。
『彼はね　今日はしばらく離れたところにいるの。独り身のあなたにはわからないかもしれないけれど倦怠期なの。』
『けんたいき・・・犬待期、つまり犬族との交流時期を少し待っているってこと？　待つまでもないですよ。わたしならいつでも大歓迎です。』
『いえ　そうじゃなくて　何と言ったらいいかしら。ちょっと離れていたいと思っているだけ。わたし達っていつも一緒でおしどり夫婦って言われているの。ハトですけど。』
『おいしい・・とりの　ふうふ　って　そっそれはたしかに狙われますよ。危険すぎますね。やっぱり少し離れて暮らした方がいいと思います。危険を感じながらもずっと一緒にいたなんて命がけの仲良し生活だったんですね。ふ～む　それが愛と言う物なんですね。美しいなあ。』
アッ　ダンナさんがこちらに飛んできますよ。早く危険を知らせてあげなくちゃ。一緒にいては危険ですよ。
　わたしは猛烈に吠えたてたんです。だってクックル夫妻の命がかかっているんですから。それなのにクックル夫人が毛を逆立てて　いや　羽を逆立てるほどにびっくりして舞い上がっちゃたの。
『ギャーなんてことするの？　わたしの大事な夫に！　夫とはちょっと離れていたいと言っただけでしょ。例えて言うなら二十羽ばたきくらいの間のことよ。アナタ待って　わたしも一緒に行くわ。』
あっ　クックル夫人がダンナさんと一緒に飛んで行っちゃいましたよ。えっ　離れていたい時間が二十羽ばたきくらいって　たったそれだけ？　つまりそれって　わたしのストレッチ風の伸びとあくびと生あくびと　それからくしゃみを足したくらいの時間じゃないですか。
　夫婦の間柄って意外とむずかしいものなんですね。やっぱり独り身のわたしには　理解できそうにありません。

When my owners go out for work, it's my important job to stay home and keep an eye on things. Since I also look after the neighbors, there are always plenty of happenings - fun, scary, and everything in between.

Visit from Kukkur the Pigeon
"Well, long time no see, Mrs. Kukkur," I said. Mrs. Kukkur the pigeon visited after a long time, but today she wasn't with her husband. I wonder what happened?
"He's staying a bit away today. You might not understand this as a single dog, but we’re going through a bit of a period of boredom."
"Period of lull period, or rough patch?"
"No, that's not it. How should I put it... just wanting a bit of distance. We are always together, like a pair of lovebirds, though we're actually pigeons."
"A delicious pair of birds? (★ Japanese pronunciation of lovebirds similar to delicious) That indeed sounds risky. It's better to stay apart. Living together while feeling constant danger sounds like a life of a beautiful bond."
"Oh no, here comes your husband. I need to warn you. It's dangerous to stay together!" I barked intensely because the lives of the Kukkur couple were at stake.
Despite my efforts, Mrs. Kukkur got so startled that she ruffled her feathers and flew away. "What are you doing to my beloved husband? I said I wanted a bit of distance, not a complete separation. I'll be with him!"
Mrs. Kukkur flew away with her husband. So, the time they wanted apart was just a few wing flaps' worth? A dog's stretch and yawn combined? I guess the relationship between a couple is more complex than I thought, and as a single dog, I might never understand it.
