4　虫はムシでもヨワムシ　The Weak Insect

バウ　暗くて良くは見えないけど、その草むらの中に何かいます。あんまりバウバウとわたしが叫ぶとお家の人達はまたケムシでも見つけて騒いでいるんだろうとか　ヨワムシなんだから　などと言います。
ケムシ　ヨワムシ？　ムシ？　無視？　虫？　それはこの辺によくいる羽やら触覚やらあって毛がモシャモシャあったりブンブンいったりするやつでしょ。それなら知ってますよ。でもヨワムシって何？　そんな虫いるの？
それはともかく　これは違うと思うな。ちょっと強そう、こっちをにらんでいるみたい。手も足も無い変わった生き物です。まだ赤ちゃんなのかな。　暗くて結局よくわからないままクネクネとどこかに消えてしまいました。またすぐに会うことになるなんてこの時は思ってもみませんでしたけど。

It's too dark to see well, but there is something in the grass over there. If I shout too much, my family (owner) will think I've found another caterpillar and am making a fuss again. They'll call me a weakling or something.

Caterpillar? Weakling? Insect? Ignore? Bug? They are the ones with wings, antennas, and fuzzy bodies that buzz around, right? I know about those. But what is a weakling? Is there such an insect?

Anyway, I think this is different. It looks a bit strong and seems to be glaring at me. It's a peculiar creature with no arms or legs. Maybe it's still a baby.

In the end, it was too dark to understand, and it squirmed away somewhere.
I never thought at that time, I would meet it again soon.
