「ミステリイ読書日記」

　ミステリ好きの藤沢周平の読書録である。忙しい執筆の間に結構な冊数のミステリイを読んでいることが分かる。

「転機の作物」

　初期の藤沢周平作品は内容的に暗いものがあった。初期の小説は物語の中に自身の鬱屈した気分を流し込んだものとなっており、いわば、私小説といってよいものであった。だが、「用心棒日月抄」からは内容に変化が見られ始めていることを自身の口で語っている。
　作家の登竜門である直木賞を受賞するまで、およそ十年かかっている。受賞後も、『用心棒日月抄』あたりからその作風は少しずつ変化をみせる。四作におよぶシリーズを「転機の作物」と位置づけ、「内部の抑圧がややうすれた時期になって、私の中にも、集会所の若者たちほどあざやかではないにしろ、北国風のユーモアが目ざめたということだったかも知れない」（『小説の周辺』）と書いている。藤沢周平の作家としての姿勢に、また別の微妙な変化が出てくる。明確には書いていないが、「たしかではないが自分の小説がまた少し変わりかけているのを感じるからである」「私自身当時の小説を読み返すと、少少苦痛を感じるほどに暗い仕上がりのものが多い。男女の愛は別離で終わるし、武士が死んで物語が終わるというふうだった。ハッピーエンドが書けなかった。」（転機の作物）とこの『小説の周辺』で述べています。それは、自然に入り込んできたユーモアの要素がそうさせたと語っています。

　　　This is the reading list of Fujisawa Shuhei, who loves mysteries. It can be seen that while he is busy writing, he reads quite several mysteries.
“ Crops at Turning Points”
　　　Fujisawa Shuhei 's early works had dark content. His early novels were stories that reflected his depressed mood and could be called personal novels. However, from ``Yojimbo Nichigetsusho'' onwards, he says in his own words that he has begun to see a change in his content.
　　　It took him about ten years to win the Naoki Prize, which is a gateway to success for writers. Even after he won the award, his style gradually changed from around ``Yojimbo Nichigetsusho.'' Positioning the four-volume series as ``Crops at Turning Points,'' he said, ``At a time when internal repression had faded a little, I found myself with a northern-style sense of humor, although it was not as vivid as the young people in the meeting hall. It may have been an awakening," he wrote in "Around the Novels." Another subtle change appears in Fujisawa Shuhei 's attitude as a writer. Although he didn't write it explicitly, he said, ``I feel that my novels are starting to change a little bit, although it's not for certain,'' and ``When I reread the novels I wrote back then, they were so dark that I felt a little distressed.'' "The love between a man and a woman ended with separation, and the story ended with the death of the samurai. I couldn't write a happy ending.
