８　『野菊守り』から

　特に気に入ったのは、捻くれた感がある斎部五郎助が菊を守る事を命じられ守りきり、心の交流と甦る剣さばきを確かめる機会がきっかけで、雪解けのように頑なな心に変化を生じさせ穏やかになってゆく様を描いた「野菊守り」です。
　作品の中で主人公が弁慶めし様のものを想像させるおにぎりを食べる場面があります。

　「その握り飯も、このあたりでへら菜と呼ぶ菜っ葉の漬け物の葉でくるみ、上からこんがりと焼いたもので、おかずは大てい塩辛いたくあんか、小茄子の漬け物二つ三つである」（『野菊守り』）。

8. From "A Wild Chrysanthemum Guardian"

　　　I particularly liked "A Wild Chrysanthemum Guardian," which depicts how the twisted Saibe Gorosuke is ordered to protect the chrysanthemum, and through an opportunity to connect with him and test his revived sword skills, his stubborn heart changes like snow melting and it becomes gentler.

　　　There is a scene in the work where the protagonist eats a rice ball that reminds one of Benkei's rice balls.

　　　"The rice ball is wrapped in pickled cabbage leaves, which are called Herana around here, and grilled until golden brown, and the side dishes are usually salty pickled radish or two or three pickled small eggplants" ("A Wild Chrysanthemum Guardian").　　　　　　　　　　　　（The End）
