（あらすじ） ２

　その武家の娘である以登にほのかに想いをよせて、満開の桜の下で、羽賀道場の江口孫四郎は帰り支度をしていた所に彼女に声をかけてきた。先日の道場で以登が二の弟子、三の弟子を破ったことを褒め、機会を見て手合せ願いたいという。以登の家は組頭で、時には中老や家老を出す重い家柄である。
　以登の心は浮き浮きしていた。それは羽賀道場の逸材として剣名の高い江口孫四郎に出会った喜びが含まれている。江口は以登の剣をたかが女子の剣法とは侮ってもいなければ、組頭の娘であることもおもねってもいなかった。以登を好敵手として認めていたのだ。それが嬉しかった。
    以登の父・甚左衛門は組頭から上には出世できなかったひとだったが、夕雲流の達人だった。一人娘の以登にも５歳から竹刀を持たせたのだった。
 

(Synopsis)　２

　　　Magoshiro Eguchi of the Haga Dojo (*martial arts gym) was preparing to go home under the cherry blossoms in full bloom, and he took a fancy to her and he called out to her. He praised Ito for defeating his second and third disciples at the dojo the other day and said that he would like to see her for a match. The Ito family is the head of the group, and it is an important family line that sometimes produces chief retainers and shogunal advisers.
　　　Ito's heart was happy. It includes her joy when she met Magoshiro Eguchi, who has a high sword name as a talent of Haga Dojo. Eguchi did not underestimate Ito's sword as just a female swordsmanship, and he did not even think that she was the daughter of the head of the group. He recognized Ito as his rival. That made her happy.
          Ito's father, Jinzaemon, was a person who could not rise above the head of the group but was a master of the Sekiun style. He gave his only daughter, Ito, a bamboo sword at the age of five.　（To be continued）
