　仙吉は一つの仕事に落ち着くことのない男だった。だが、怠け者というわけではない。しばらくぶらぶらしているかと思うと、再び仕事を始めるのだ。そして、仙吉とおとくは蚤の夫婦だった。
　その仙吉が帰ってこない。何かあっても必ず家に帰ってくる男なのにである。どうも、女が出来たらしい。こういうことは以前にもあった。
しかし、今回は状況が違うらしい。おとくはこうした不安な場合、仙吉が以前に買ってくれた粗末な土器人形を抱きしめるのである。そうすると、不安が徐々に薄れていくのである。

　　　But Senkichi had not come home. He was a man who always came home no matter what. It seems that he had a girlfriend. This has happened before.
　　　But this time, the situation seems to be different. When Otoku felt anxious like this, she would hug the crude clay doll that Senkichi had bought for her before. Then, her anxiety would gradually fade away.
