　小説を書く大変さを述べている。藤沢周平は小説をすらすらと書けるのではなく、漫然と机の前に坐っていることが多かったらしい。その間にすることといえば、鼻毛を抜いたり、万年筆のインクを入れ直したり、原稿用紙をいじったりするのです。

8 　“Hello, baby”

　　　He describes the difficulty of writing a novel. It seems that Fujisawa Shuhei was not able to write his novels smoothly, but instead often sat absentmindedly at his desk. All he does in the meantime is pluck his nose hair, refill his fountain pen, and fiddle with his manuscript paper.
　　　Come to think of it, he seems to have done something similar to the literary giants of the Meiji era... It is said that the literary great used to pull out his nose hairs and line them up one by one...　（To be continued）
