（はじめに）
　藤沢周平作品｢花のあと｣は、海坂藩を舞台としたいわゆる「海坂もの」のひとつで、主人公の女剣士・以登が晩年、孫たちに若き日の思い出を語る形式で物語が展開する。たった一度剣を交えた江口孫四郎への秘めた想い。以登の淡い恋心を象徴するような桜の美しい情景描写。30数頁の短い物語に凝縮して描かれる人物描写と人間模様が素晴らしい。

　　　Fujisawa Shuhei's work " After the Full Bloom （Hana no Ato）" is one of the so-called "Unasaka stories" set in the Unasaka Domain. The story unfolds in a format in which the main character, a female swordsman, Ito, tells her grandchildren in her later years about her memories of her youth. Hidden feelings for Magoshiro Eguchi, whom she crossed swords with only once, and a beautiful scene of cherry blossoms that symbolizes Ito's faint love. The character descriptions and human patterns condensed into a short story of about 30 pages are wonderful.　　（To be continued）
