　それから一年近くたった四月の末。以登が供のおふさと出かけた城下から二里ほどの湯治場の近くで、加世と１７も年が上のかつての噂の男藤井勘解由が一緒にいる現場を見てしまった。白昼、ひともなげな…。このままでは済むまい。以登は暗い気持ちでそう思った。いずれは孫四郎にも知れるだろう。知れれば血が流れ、孫四郎自身も無事ではいられまい。加代の相手は藤井勘解由という男だった。そして恐れていたことが起こった。

　　　Nearly a year later, at the end of April, near the hot spring resort about 2 Ris from the castle town where Ito went out with her attendant, O-fusa, she happened to see Kayo and Fujii Kageyu, who was 17 years older than she and was rumored to be together.  It's broad daylight.
