２－２   風景描写についても『橋ものがたり』から引用しよう。

　「江戸の町の上にひろがっている夕焼けは、弥平が五本松にかかるころには、いよいよ色あざやかになった。南から北にかけて、高い空一面をうろこ雲が埋め、雲は赤々と焼けている。そして西空の、そこに日が沈んだあたりは、ほとんど金色にかがやいていた。その夕焼けを背に、凹凸を刻む町の屋根が、黒く浮かび上がっている。あちこちの窓から灯影が洩れているが、壮大な夕焼けの光の下では貧しげな色に見えた。小名木川の水が、空の光を映し、その川筋の方がはるかに明るく見えた。」（藤沢周平『橋ものがたり』-吹く風は秋-）

　　　“The sunset over the town of Edo became brighter by the time Yahei reached Gohonmatsu. From the south to the north, cirrocumulus clouds fill the high sky, The clouds are burning red. And in the western sky, when the sun went down, it was almost golden. Against the sunset, the uneven roof of the town emerges in black. Lights were leaking from the windows here and there, but they looked poor under the magnificent sunset light.
