２　阿部次郎（1883～1959・明治16‐昭和34)

　哲学者，評論家。山形県生れ。一高を経て，1907年東大哲学科を卒業。在学中から『校友会雑誌』『帝国文学』に執筆。また，『朝日新聞』の，夏目漱石主宰による〈朝日文芸欄〉などにも執筆し，安倍能成らとの合著『影と声』(1911)につづき，内的生活の記録である『三太郎の日記』(1914)，『三太郎の日記第弐』(1915)によって読者に広く迎えられた。T.リップスの強い影響のもとに，『倫理学の根本問題』(1916)を考究し，『人格主義』(1922)に至って，人格を人間存在の統一原理としての生命と見る思想を確立。

2 　Jiro Abe　（1883～1959・Meiji 16～Showa 34)

　　　A philosopher and a critic. Born in Yamagata prefecture. He graduated from the Department of Philosophy at the University of Tokyo in 1907 after passing through the first senior high school. He wrote "School Friends Magazine" and "Teikoku Bungaku" while he was still in school. He also wrote in the Asahi News Paper's Asahi Feuilleton, which was presided over by Soseki Natsume. It was widely welcomed by readers by "The Journals of Santaro No 1" (1914) and "The Journals of Santaro No. 2" (1915). Under the strong influence of T. Lips, he studied "The Fundamental Problem of Ethics" (1916) and reached "Personality" (1922).　He established the idea of seeing personality as life as a unified principle of human existence.
