ジョージが仕事の面接に来てます。

クルーガーのオフィスにジョージがいる。
クルーガー： Your background is impressive, George, but how does it apply it to what we do here, at Kruger Industrial Smoothing?
ジョージ： Well, at the Yankees it was all about smoothing thing over, you know, chiseling away, grinding down, in fact we used to call it the grind.
クルーガー： It says here that you worked at Play Now for four days?
ジョージ： That should be 14 days, let me just…
クルーガー： George, I have to be honest, I could go either way with you, but what the hell, we need someone, huh.
ジョージ： You won’t regret it sir.
クルーガー： I don’t care. Let’s find you an office.
ジョージがある写真に気付く。クルーガーとその家族の後ろでジョージが写っている。
場面が変わり喫茶店でジョージとジェリーが話している。
ジョージ： …and then when I saw the photo I remembered where I’d seen him, the boom box incident.
ジェリー： The boom box incident?
ジョージ： Summer of 89 I’m at the beach. This family sits up next to me. I go into the surfs and when I come from out, my clothes, my towel, my umbrella, they’re all gone. I am furious. I start screaming to these kids demanding my stuff back and finally I lose it. I grab their boom box and I chuck it into the ocean.
ジェリー： Seems reasonable.
ジョージ： Then, I see my clothes floating out there. The tied took them out, not the kids.
ジェリー： Even more reasonable.
ジョージ： So now, the father is screaming at me, he’s demanding that I pay for the boom box. Finally I gave them a fake address and got the hell out of there.
ジェリー： And that guy is your new boss?
ジョージ： Until that stupid photo jogs his memory.
クレーマー： Kruger? That’s not Kruger Industrial Smoothing, is it?
ジョージ： Yeah.
クレーマー： Grinders, sanders, wet stones. They are the ones botched the Statue of Liberty job.
ジェリー： Right. They couldn’t get the green stuff off.
ジョージ： It is a horrible company. There’s no management whatsoever. I could go hog wild in there.
クレーマー： You know what you do? You sneak that photo out of there for couple of days and get it air brushed.
ジョージ： Like retouched?
クレーマー： You remember that photo of me and Gerald Ford and I took it in. Got that Ford right out of there.
ジョージ： Oh, this is good. This Kruger guy is clueless. I can’t wait to work for him.
写真屋でジョージがいる。
店員： Here you go, airbrushed into sand and sky.
写真を見るジョージ。写真にはジョージがまだいて、クルーガーが消えている。
ジョージ： What did you do here? You took out the wrong guy.
店員： I thought you said you wanted to be out?
ジョージ： Well, I’m still here. You took out the other guy.
店員： You’ve really lost a lot of hair.
ジョージ： I am aware!
写真屋でジョージがいる。
店員： Here you go Mr. Costanza .
写真を見るジョージ。クルーガーが絵で描かれている。
ジョージ： What is this? This is a drawing.
店員： Looks real, doesn’t it?
ジョージ： This is a cartoon!
店員： Hey, I had to draw that guy from memory. Considering, I think that’s damn good.
ジョージ： But, it’s not a photogragh, I need a photograph!
店員： Then you better get a camera.
写真をジェリーに見せるジョージ。
ジェリー： He looks like a Peanuts character.
ジョージ： I know. The only way to fix it now, is to get a whole new photo of Kruger.
ジェリー： You can do that.
ジョージ： Without his shirt on.
ジェリー： You can’t do that. Well maybe Kruger wasn’t the place for you.
ジョージ： It seems so disorganized.
ジェリー： I understand.

クルーガーのオフィスにジョージがいる。
クルーガー： バックグランドは素晴らしいが、君の能力を我々の会社クルーガーインダストリアルスムージングでどのように活かすのかね？
ジョージ： ヤンキースでも物事を滑らかにして、掘り、削りとることがすべてでした。それをグラインドと呼んでました。
クルーガー： 履歴書にはPlay Nowで４日働いたと記載されてるが。
ジョージ： １４日の間違いです。直します。
クルーガー： ジョージ、正直言うと、雇っても雇わなくてもいいんだが、まー、誰が必要だからな。
ジョージ： 後悔させません。
クルーガー： どうでもいいよ。部屋へ案内しよう。
ジョージがある写真に気付く。クルーガーとその家族の後ろでジョージが写っている。
場面が変わり喫茶店でジョージとジェリーが話している。
ジョージ： で、その写真を見て、クルーガーに会った事を思い出した。ステレオ事件だ。
ジェリー： ステレオ事件？
ジョージ： ８９年の夏だ。ビーチで家族が俺の横に座ってた。俺はサーフィンに行って帰ってきたら、服、タオル、傘が全部無くなってた。俺は怒って、横のガキに俺の物を返せと叫んだ。完全にブチ切れてステレオを海に投げ捨てたんだ。
ジェリー： 納得できるな。
ジョージ： それで、海に俺の服が浮いてるのを見つけたんだ。ガキじゃなくて潮が俺の物を持って行ったんだ。
ジェリー： さらに納得だ。
ジョージ： で、親父が出てきてステレオ代を弁償しろって叫んでくるから、うその住所を教えて逃げたんだ。
ジェリー： その男が新しい上司か。
ジョージ： あのバカな写真を見て思い出すまではな。
クレーマー： クルーガー？クルーガーインダストリアルスムージングじゃないか？
ジョージ： そうだよ。
クレーマー： グラインダーややすりなどを扱ってる、自由の女神をめちゃめちゃにした奴らじゃないか？
ジェリー： そうだ。自由の女神の緑色の物を取り除けなかった奴らだ。
ジョージ： ひどい会社だよ。マネジメントなんかあったもんじゃない。だから俺はあの会社に行きたいんだ。
クレーマー： だったら、その写真を2,3日拝借して、お前を消す加工をすればいいんだ。
ジョージ： リタッチみたいにか？
Kramer: 俺とGerald Ford の写真を撮った時のことを覚えてるか？ Ford を写真から消しただろ。
ジョージ： いいね。クルーガーは気づいてない。早く働きたいぜ。
写真屋でジョージがいる。
店員： 海と砂の中に完璧に消したよ。
写真を見るジョージ。写真にはジョージがまだいて、クルーガーが消えている。
ジョージ： 何してんだ？消す人間を間違ってるぞ。
店員： あんたを消してほしいって言ってたよね。。
ジョージ： 俺はまだいるぞ。お前は片方の男を消したんだ。
店員： 髪の毛がずいぶん薄くなったね。。
ジョージ： 知ってるよ！
写真屋でジョージがいる。
店員： 出来たぜ。
写真を見るジョージ。クルーガーが絵で描かれている。
ジョージ： なんだこれ？これは絵じゃねえか。
店員： リアルっぽいだろ。
ジョージ： これはマンガじゃないか！
店員： 記憶から書いたんだぜ。それを考えればめちゃめちゃうまいだろ。
ジョージ： 写真じゃない。俺は写真が必要なんだ。
店員： それなら、カメラを買えよ。
写真をジェリーに見せるジョージ。
ジェリー： ピーナッツのマンガみたいだな。
ジョージ： そうだろ。もうクルーガーの写真を撮るしか方法がない。
ジェリー： 出来るだろ。
ジョージ： シャツを脱がしてか？
ジェリー： 難しいな。クルーガーはお前に合ってなかっただよ。
ジョージ： まとまりがなくてよかったんだが。。
ジェリー： 分かってるよ。
写真の店員さんが絵を誇っているところが
めちゃめちゃ面白いですよね。。
英語の勉強です。
we used to call it the grind.
used to ～ は良く使います。
昔は～をしていたと使いますね。
I used to play baseball when I was young.などですね。
出張で台湾や中国に行くことが多かったので中国語の勉強を始めましたが、
発音が難しすぎますね。。4声がすべて同じに聞こえるのは僕だけでしょうか。。爆笑
