英詩のマガジン の本配信、今月3本目です。歌われる詩の2回めです。今回は、ボブ・ディランのアルバム 'Tempest' (2012年、下) に収められた 'Scarlet Town' です。長いので数回に分けます。今回は2連までです。

初期のディランはバラッドの 'Barbara Allen' を唄っていましたが、そのバラッドやマザーグースの 'Little Boy Blue' などにインスピレーションを受けた歌です。描く世界は〈ピュア・ディラン〉（マルゴタンら）と評される荒涼たる景色です。
