［英詩］Bob Dylan, 'Like a Rolling Stone'

ボブ・ディランの最もよく知られた歌の一つ 'Like a Rolling Stone' を今回は取上げます。1965年のアルバム 'Highway 61 Revisited' の歌です。

このアルバムのジャケットはいつ見てもかっこいい。ボブの視線は、見るこちらの心の底を、見すかすように感じられる。詩人の目ってこんな目か。

いつもは、さっさと詩の分析に向かうのだけれど、今回はジャケットに寄り道します。興味ない人は（有料ですが）詩の分析（約1万1千字）に進んでください。なお、依拠するテクストはディラン公式サイトのものとはかなり違うリクス校訂版によります。恐らくその校訂版テクストに基づく日本語訳や分析は本邦初です。

同じ1965年に出た、一つ前のアルバム 'Bringing It All Back Home' のカバーを撮ったダニエル・クレーマが、このアルバムの写真も撮っている。

ボブはシルクのジャケットを、Triumph バイクのTシャツの上に羽織っている。右手にはレイバンのサングラスを持っている。

背景に、ボブの友人のフォーク・シンガー、ボブ・ニューワースがカメラをぶら下げているところが写っている。

構図は、いかにもスナップ写真のように見えるが、実は計算されている。

撮影の日、午後じゅう、グレニッチ・ビレッジのレストランで何時間も撮影を続けたが、満足の行く一枚が撮れなかった。写真家はボブが着ているものが気に入らず、新しい服を買うようボブに頼んだ。それから、さらに2時間撮影を続けたが、結局、いい写真が撮れなかった。

疲れた彼らはマネージャのアルバート・グロスマンのアパートに帰ってきた。すると、ボブはクレーマに、「新しいTシャツがあるんだ。バイクのTシャツ。それの写真を撮ってほしいんだけど。ぼくがそのバイクのTシャツを着ているところを」と言った。クレーマはOKし、時間を省くために、アパートの階段のところに座って撮ることにした。

レンズを覗いたクレーマは、背景がちょっとむき出し過ぎると思ったので、ニューワースに後ろに立ってもらった。それでも、まだ何か足りない。そこで、ニューワースに自分のカメラ、ニコンのSPを渡して、右手で持ってもらった。

こうしてできた構図で2枚撮り、そのうちの1枚がジャケットに使われた。

出来上がった写真は、ロックン・ロールのミュージシャンのようで、アルバムの内容にはよく合っている。

しかし、目はロックのミュージシャンの目とは少し違うように私には感じられる。
