Day1-Along with Fading Memories
My mother and I are bound by a silent, intricate bond. I live with bipolar disorder, drifting between the realms of reality and illusion. Meanwhile, my mother battles dementia, fading into the depths of forgotten memories. As our illnesses progress, we each lose ourselves in our own worlds, the presence of family becoming a distant haze.
One day, it dawned on me—we are mirrors reflecting each other. Perhaps the whole and the part are merely different perspectives of the same essence, seen either broadly or minutely. With that realization, I understood that my family and I are one indivisible existence.
I made a decision: to live alongside my mother, facing our two illnesses together. From today onward, until the day I forget who I am, I will write a daily journal with her. By weaving fragments of memories into words, we will defy the passage of time.
