A samurai spirit.
There is a certain café in Kyoto. It only has 4 counter seats, and there is just one café staff member. She welcomes you with a smile everyday, every time.
One day, Tanaka-san who is a male regular customer came.
The café staff member and he had a chat in their usual way.
A journey to experience history.
On that day, they talked about the trip he had taken. He had been to Aizuwakamatsu city in Fukushima prefecture and saw places where you can feel samurai spirits. And he learned its history and how people thought things in the generation. That was mostly end of Edo era when there were many samurai existed. Samurai had a kind of virtue Jijin(自刃) that is nothing else in other country. If it exists in this day and age, it must be,100% controversial issue. Needless to say he doesn’t want to do it, but somehow he feels like he understands.
The café staff member listened and asked if his ancestors related to samurai or not.
And an idea came to mind that his father told him.
His ancestors
“Your ancestors had used to be Samurai and they were beaten a war, so ran away from enemy into mountain, then they were farming here.”
Come to think of it, there is a monument that is for a certain samurai clan near her house.
So he might have samurai DNA, and the DNA might have made him feel virtue-wise jijin.
That day, he again realized where he was from.
