A power of silence.
There is a certain café in Kyoto.
It only has 4 counter seats, and there is just one café staff member.
She welcomes you with a smile everyday, every time.
The reading and coffee time.
The café has organized some event constantly.
The reading and coffee time is one of them.
The event used to be popular, so the seats were full every time. But it’s held more than 1 year, then people lost interest in. So the participants are fewer for the past few months.
A compromise and a conflict.
The café staff member decided to change the system to that if there is no one will read a book, even when the event starts, she will open the café as usual until someone who comes for the event. And she’s explained that to everyone who doesn’t have the will reading books. “You can have a chat until someone comes for the event.”
And most of regular customers don’t have the will lately, and they have a chat without regard to the event.
But still, she would remain the time for someone wants reading.
A power of silence.
At the event of a certain month, some regular customers who assume that no one will show up for the event had a conversation even though the event began. Actually, there were no one for reading a book at the time.
She had a conversation with the talkative customers, on the other hand, she wished someone who wanted to read a book would come.
At the time, a regular customer showed up..
He sat next to them and open a book quietly. Then the talkative customers became quiet.
