【レビュー】
「Aftermath」をレビューして、Decca時代はクリア。
で、60年代が終わり、ということで、シングル盤を中心とした本作で総ざらいしてみたいと思います。
Stonesも結構ベスト盤などが濫造されているのですが、本作が一番シンプルかつ広くまとめていて便利。
中身は当然のごとく素晴らしく、通して聴いてみると、ちょっと筋のいいブルース・バンドから、数年でえらいところまで行ってしまったのだな、というのが非常に良く分かります。
純粋な、というか単なるカバー曲の「I Just Want to Make Love to You」から、4、5年で、ほとんど芸術作品の「Sympathy for the Devil」とは。
Beatles の変貌が超人すぎて目立たないんですが、Stones も、短期間で相当な変化、進歩をしていることが良く分かります。
まあ、後にいち早くディスコを取り入れたり、80年代の波に巻き込まれたりと、大いにスベってもいるのですが、良くも悪くも周囲、空気の影響を受けやすいのがStones、ということでもあるのでしょう。
とにかく、一家に1枚（1セット）、の逸品であります。
ヒマな時間ができて、あまり選曲を考えたくない時は本作ですね。
【結論】
当然の★5。
ベストプレイリストですが、 Disc1からは5、Disc2からは2、4、11、12、19、Disc3からは4。
Let It Bleed は以前レビューしてましたが、こちらからは、「Love In Vain」、「Midnight Rambler」、「You Can't Always Get What You Want」を選曲。
順序があっちゃこっちゃしたのですが、ここで、「Let It Bleed」までというか60年代というかBrian時代というか、そこまでの選曲から、リストを作ってみました。
