Registration is the First Step

Welcome to Japan!
You have been through so many documents, complications and patients until you came to Japan! 
Now you are in Japan as a legal “mid/long term resident” witj your “zairyuu card (=resident card)” .

Now what’s next？
If you have a place to stay at least a months or more, let’s register this place as your “residence” at the nearest district office called “Shi-Yakusho (pronounce as "She-yah-k-show" or “Ku-Yakusho”.
(if you stay at a hotel, please ask reception if the hotel is eligible to be registered as “residence” first.)

Usually at your initial registration, please bring the following documents:

If you’re single residence,
-Residence Card 
-Passport

If you are marriage couple, 
-Residence Card (all)
-Passport (all)
-marriage certificate
-Translation of Marriage Certificate (Optional)

If you have children as dependents,
-Residence Card (all)
-Passport (all)
-marriage certificate
-Children's birth certificate
-Translation of Marriage Certificate (Optional)
-Translation of Birth Certificate (Optional)

Depend on the district (shi/ku) you live, the small requirement may vary, so please confirm each district website before visitation.
