Math can be managed without English proficiency.
I used to be a math teacher at a secondary high school so I will give you a problem relating a diagram. (grade 6 level in Japan but a bit harder)
Why don’t you try this graphic problem ?
Calculate the area of the shaded triangle AEB.
Given : ABCD is rectangle, BC=6cm, CE=2cm, ∠AEB=45゜
Easy or hard ?
Solution to the above problem.
First of all, since angle AEB is 45 degrees, side EA is extended to form a right-angled isosceles triangle FBE below.
Extend the side CB 2 cm to the left and set point G. Connect point F and point G. FGCE is a trapezoid.
∠EBC + ∠FBE + ∠FBG = 180° ∠FBE is a right angle ,∠EBC + ∠FBG = 90°hence ∠BFG = ∠EBC. Side FB = side BE
Triangle FBG and BEC are congruent (SAS)
The area of the trapezoid FGCE is 32㎠ ( 6+2 ) × 8 ÷ 2 = 32
The area of the triangle FBG and BEC are 6㎠ each 6 × 2 ÷ 2 = 6
Hence the area of the triangle FBE is 20㎠
FA and AE have lengths in a ratio of 1:3 since segment BC is 6cm and segment GB is 2cm.
Hence FBA and ABE have areas in a ration of 1:3
Area of triangle AEB = 15㎠ 20× 3/4 = 15
Mathematics helps to develop logical and critical thinking and provides tools for understanding science, engineering , and technology.
