How much do you think a cab driver in Tokyo makes in a day?
Japanese cab drivers are paid on a piecework basis. In other words, those with high sales will be paid more and those with low sales will be paid less. In addition, we do not receive a fixed monthly salary. On average, about 55% of sales after deducting consumption tax is the salary. Of course, pay rules vary from company to company. If sales are high, the deduction rate is lower if sales are low, the deduction rate is higher. To explain this in a simple way, a person with sales of 1 million yen per month will be paid 650,000 yen (US$ 4,422.00) , 65% of sales, while a person with sales of 500,000 yen will be paid 250,000 yen (US$ 1,701.00), 50% of sales. In Japan, salaries are mostly paid monthly. In addition, a 10% consumption tax is added in Japan, so sales are calculated after subtracting the consumption tax. The exchange rate of the yen is 147 yen to the US dollar on 14 OCT,2022.
With the current depreciation of the yen against the dollar, I believe it is becoming easier for people from overseas to visit Japan.
