Member Interview Vol.5
Today, I'm introducing Ms. Seki, who joined the project before Lily MedTech was incorporated as a company.
- Could you tell me your role at Lily MedTech?
As I joined the USCT project in very early stage, I’ve done various things before, but now, I’m responsible for clinical trial.
- Could you share your background with me?
After graduating from a university, I was engaged in semiconductor analysis at a large manufacturing company.
I left the company as I married and had children. As our children glow, I returned to work and joined a healthcare related national center first, and then, I joined Prof. Azuma’s, current CTO's laboratory. That’s how I joined Lily MedTech.
- What are your motivation and challenges?
I thought it’s great when Prof. Azuma told me about the product concept that enable us to make diagnosis and treatment at the same time. As I was involved in the focused ultrasound research, I saw a strong potential and wanted to keep working together.
As I'm in charge of clinical trial, I have chances to talk with breast cancer patients. Some are in the same age as myself. Some are mothers with small children. Although they are going through hard treatment, they care about their families and participate in our clinical trial hoping the realization of female friendly breast cancer screening system . Whenever I talk to these women, I strongly feel that I WANT to launch the system asap.
- How do you find Lily MedTech?
Achieving mass production is very difficult as product for sales is different from prototypes. But I really enjoy to see turning the idea to reality everyday!
I like something new very much and I enjoy creating new device a lot.
It’s fun that I can see the whole company (it’s different from other companies).
I clearly remember that one of the clinical trial participants told me that she deeply regret that she had not been taken breast cancer screening for a long time because she felt it's embarrassing to show her breasts. I do not want to understate the women's honest feelings.
- Could you tell me a bit about your personal life?
I have two sons! Before they entered universities, I worked 4 days a week (instead of 5 days a week) and I keep good balance between work and life.
I used to enjoy touring but now, my sons are my hobby!?
I love hot spring and bath! My happiest moment is online shopping while I have bath in weekends!
I really like Japanese sake and beer!
Thanks a lot! Thanks to her long and rich experience at Lily MedTech, I often ask her questions and she seems to have all answers! As same as Mr. and Mrs. Takamura, when we have new member, she takes him / her for lunch and welcomes them!
