As a big fan of UMINARI, I wanted to write my impression on their first album that was released on 13 May.

M1 浮遊感 / Floating

私が揺れて踊りたくなる曲です。
アルバムを始めるのに非常に素晴らしい曲です。各楽器が次々と入ってくると、曲に対するハイプがどんどん高まってきます。うつつさんのボーカルが入る頃には、ドラムのビートに合わせて頭を振るのを止められません。歌詞が私に言うように、これはただ揺れて踊りたくなるような楽しい曲です。ビート、ボーカル、シンセなど、曲の様々な要素が一緒になって、非常にユニークでスタイリッシュな曲を作り出しています。

A song I would sway and dance to.
A very amazing song to start the album. As each instrument comes in, you get more and more hyped up for the song. By the time Utsutsu's vocals are in, I can't help but be excited and bob my head to the beats of the drum. Like the lyrics tell me to, it's a fun song that just makes you want to start swaying and dancing. All the different elements of the song, from the beat, to the vocal, and the synth, combines together to make a very unique and stylish song.

M2 ふみきり / Crossover 

電車の中で聴きたい曲です。
最初の息を吹き込むところから、この曲が最初の曲とは非常に異なるムードを持っていることがわかります。この曲のインストゥルメンタルは、ギターで全ての電車の音を模倣して、UMINARIが非常に興味深く、聴きごたえのあるものを作り出したところが素晴らしいです。メランコリックな歌詞と一緒に、無力な乗客として未知の世界へと進んでいく感じを与えてくれます。このイメージは、うつつさんの魅力的なボーカルによってさらに強化されています。そのボーカルは強さと感情性を同時に持っています。

A song I'd listen to on the train.
From the gasp of air at the start, you can tell this song is a very different mood compared to the first song. The instrumental in this song is amazing by mimicking all the train noises with the guitar, UMINARI created something very interesting and enchanting to listen to. Along with the melancholic lyrics, it gives you the vibe of riding into the unknown as a helpless passenger. This image is further strengthened by Utsutsu's enchanting vocal, which is strong and emotional at the same time. 

M3 すいそうとし / Fish Tank an Death

戦いに行くときに聴きたい曲です。
強烈なギターアレンジとハイプアップしたサウンドとは対照的に、歌詞は人生に敗れて戦うエネルギーを失ったような人を描いています。運命を受け入れた水槽の中の人のイメージは少し悲しいですが、この曲を聴くと、歌手に諦めないで、音楽を聴いて再びモチベーションを得るように伝えたくなります。

A song I'd ride into battle with.
Contrary to the strong guitar arrangement and the hyped up sound, the lyrics sounds like someone who has been defeated by life and no longer has the energy to fight. The image of the person in the fish tank who has accepted his fate is a bit sad, but the song makes me want to tell the singer to not give up, and listen to the music to be motivated again.

M4 統合失調ギャラクシーガール / Schizoid Galaxy Girl

私が空想にふけりたいと思う曲です。
この曲の主な特徴は、歌詞がいかに楽しいかです。アレンジとボーカルがそれを支えて、'楽しい'曲を作り出しています。これは、もし視聴するなら、MVによってさらに強調されます。頭の中でこれら全ての不可能なシナリオを経験すると、何が現実で何が頭の中だけのものなのかを考え始めます。曲の速いペースと高揚感のあるボーカルは、まるでただのランニングのように、全てが普通のことのように聞こえます。それは、統合失調症などの深刻な危険性があるかのようではありません。

A song I'd want to daydream to. 
The main thing about the song is how fun the lyrics are. The arrangements and vocals goes on to support that image in creating a 'fun' song. This is further amplified by the MV if you were to watch it. As you go through all these impossible scenarios in your head, you start to wonder about what's real and what's all in your head. The fast pace of the song and uplifting vocal makes it sound like everything is all normal, as if you're just on a run rather than any serious danger such as having schizophrenia. 

M5 Spice

食事中に聴きたい曲です。
これは、愛のために誰かを毒殺したばかりの人に対して歌っている、非常に怖い曲です。ビートとアレンジメントは楽しく、左右に揺れたくなるような感じがします。しかし、歌詞にもっと注意を払うと、自分がいるシナリオがなんとも珍しいことに気づきます。恋人を毒殺し、その最後の瞬間を見つめる殺人者の視点。さらに恐ろしいのは、中盤で視点が変わり、相手も同じ興奮を感じていることです。

A song I'd listen to while eating.
A very scary song where the singer is singing to someone they have just poisoned out of love. The beat and arrangement is fun that it makes me want to sway left and right. However, as you pay more attention into the lyrics, you realize it's quite a scenario you're in. The perspective of a killer being in ecstasy at poisoning their lover, and watching their final moments. Ever scarier is the perspective change in the middle, where there counterparty feels the same excitement.

M6 挽歌 / Funeral Song

夜、草の上に寝転がって聴く曲です。
うつつさんが歌詞を書いた非常に特別な曲です。アレンジと楽器は、このアルバムの中でこの曲の前に来たUMINARIの曲に比べて少し柔らかいです。訓練を受けていない外国人の耳には、歌詞の反復が短い音節でユニークなタッチを加えています。全体的なテーマは暗く、メランコリックですが、何となくボーカルが全てをとても心地よく聞かせてくれます。

A song I'd listen to while lying in the grass at night.
A very special song with lyrics by Utsutsu. The arrangement and instrument is a bit softer compared to the UMINARI songs that came before this on the album. To my untrained foreign ears, the reiterations in the lyrics adds a unique touch with the short syllables. The overall theme is dark and melancholic,  but somehow the vocals makes everything sound so comforting.

M7 Working Dead

仕事中に聴く曲です。
深い意味を持つ歌詞、落ち着いたアレンジ、そして柔らかなボーカルが組み合わさって、このアルバムの中で私のお気に入りの一曲になりました。キーボードは曲にとても悲しくて絶望的な雰囲気を作り出しており、それは私が非常に共感する歌詞と完全に一致しています。曲には最初に微妙な怒りの感じがありますが、全体的には人が人生に対して持っている無力感を描いています。

A song I'd listen to at work. 
The deep meaning lyrics, mellow arrangement, and soft vocal combined makes this one of my favourite songs on the album. The keyboard creates an incredibly sad and hopeless mood for the song, which fits perfectly with the lyrics that I relate to a lot. The song has a subtle sense of anger in it at the start, but overall it portrays the helpless feeling a person has at life.

M8 ジュブナイル / Juvenile

モチベーションを上げるために聴く曲です。
この曲のインストゥルメンタルは非常に高揚感があり、やる気を起こさせます。これは歌詞に非常によく合っており、また、曲が彼が若かったころの記憶に基づいているという鏡マサカズさんのノートともよく合っています。この若々しいエネルギーで、私はただドラムのビートに合わせて頭を上下に動かし続けたくなるのです。

A song I'd listen to for motivation.
The instrumental for this song feels very uplifting and motivating. This suits the lyrics very well, as well as Kagami's notes on how the song is based on memories of when he was younger. With all this youthful energy, I just want to keep bobbing my head along to the beat of the drums.

M9 奇機械怪 / Strange Machine Society

イライラしているときに聴く曲です。
強力なギターがバックにある非常にパワフルで激しい曲です。歌詞は、人間の厄介な感情や問題から自分自身を解放するために機械になることについて語っています。同様に、曲にはたくさんのことが起こっており、ヘッドセットをつけて音に頭を埋めれば、人生の厄介な部分を消すのに最適だと思います。

A song I'd listen to while frustrated.
A very powerful and intense song with a strong guitar backing. The lyrics talk about becoming a machine to rid oneself of the annoying emotions and problems of a human. Similarly, there is a lot going on in the song, I think it's great to drown out the annoying parts of life if I can just bury my head into the sound with a headset on.

M10 東京 / Tokyo

忙しい街の中央に立ち、上を見上げているときに聴く曲です。
アルバムを締めくくるには完璧な曲です。歌詞の意味には、人生の困難や否定的な側面にもかかわらず、少しの希望があります。周囲に飲み込まれているように感じる、誰もが馴染みのある雰囲気でありながら、無限の可能性があることを知ることができます。また、曲のテンポが速いことも元気づけられ、アルバムをバンと送り出します。

A song I'd listen to while standing in the middle of a busy city, looking up.
A perfect song to wrap up the album. There is a bit of hope in the meaning of the lyrics, despite all the difficulties and negative aspects of life. A familiar mood where everyone feels consumed by their surrounding, but at the same time being able to know there is endless possibilities. The faster pace of the song is also invigorating, and sends the album off with a bang.

Conclusion

うつつさん、鏡マサカズ"BIG MUFF"さん、恵比寿マイさん、素晴らしいアルバムを作ってくれて再び感謝します。私の感想は単純で、私の書き方は基本的で、そして私は本当に日本語を理解していません。しかし、私はただ本当に自分の思考を紙に書き留めたかったのです。
