いちごのランナーカット、くたびれるけど最後までやり切ったの偉い【オーストラリアワーホリ54日目🫛】

6:10起床。

準備をして、朝起きてこなかった友達を置いて3人で車に乗り込む。

あまりに寒いので、エンジンを温める時間が必要。

「今日はオーナーが見に来ているから、遅かったらクビにされるよ」と、スーパーバイザーのいつもの脅し。

ファームに来ているピッカーたちとも顔見知りになれて、いろんな話ができて嬉しい。

美味しそうなイチゴをたんまり食べながら頑張る。

腰も首の付け根も限界を当に超えているくらいに痛い。

12時過ぎに全て終わり、「今日は終わり？」とスーパーバイザーに聞いたら、「今日も少数精鋭でメンテナンス作業やるから、続けるかどうかは君に任せる」とのこと。

そんなん言われたら、やるしかないやん。

だってお金欲しいもん。

友達を見送り、おいしいお弁当でお腹を満たし、車で移動。

怖面の女性スーパーバイザーと二人一組で、黙々と作業。

自分から話しかけるのは躊躇ってしまったけど、14時過ぎに、「アヤ、私はもういかないといけないから、他の人呼んでくるね」と優しい声で名前を呼んでまでもらえて、ほれてまいそう笑

カッコ良すぎる女性やわほんまに。

次に来た仲良くしてくれてる？台湾人スーパーバイザーとも喋らず、黙々と作業。

だいぶ早くできるようになってきた。

15時、フィニッシュ！

達成感半端ない。

最近休み多いし、仕事も午前中で終わることが多かったから、がっつり7時間働けて嬉しい。

体はボロボロで、帰宅後、動けない。

首の付け根がガチガチ。

30分ほど休んで。シャワー。

お弁当と朝ごはんを作り、晩ご飯。

友達が帰ってきて、一緒に公園で体を動かすことに。

湾のそばにある公園で、見晴らしがよく、深呼吸したくなる。

めちゃくちゃいい気分転換。

帰宅後、おやつを食べながら動画を見る。

明日は休み。

何しようかな、と思いつつ、19:30には寝落ちしそうなくらいに眠い。

早々におやすみ💤

テントのバッパーに移動するかどうか、ほんまに悩ましい。

いちごの仕事は身体的にきついし、あんまり稼げてないけど、ワークライフバランスが保てているし、スーパーバイザーたちと仲良くなれてきてるし、自分の真面目なところを認められているのが嬉しい。

バッパーも、高いけど、心地よく生活できているし、キッチン広くて料理やお菓子作れるし、シェアメイトも大好き。

「テントで生活してみたい」という気持ちと、今の心地よい生活を手放す価値があるのかで迷う。

稼ぐことと英語を伸ばすことを目的にするなら、引っ越しかな。

こっちで新しい稼げる仕事を見つけるのが一番かな。

A Hard Day's Work & Tough Decisions 🍓💭

Woke up at 6:10.
After getting ready, the three of us got in the car, leaving behind our friend who still hadn’t woken up.
It was so cold that we had to warm up the engine before heading out.

As usual, the supervisor's morning threat set the tone:
"The owner is here to watch today, so if you're late, you'll be fired."

Strawberry Picking & The Elite Maintenance Crew 🚜

I enjoyed getting to know the other pickers, chatting about all sorts of things while sneaking bites of delicious-looking strawberries. 🍓

But my lower back and neck were beyond their limit.

Just after 12:00, I asked the supervisor if we were done for the day.
He replied:
"Today, we'll be doing maintenance work with a small elite team again, so it's up to you whether you want to continue or not."

Well, that didn’t feel like much of a choice.
I needed the money.

We saw our friends off, refueled with our lunch boxes, and headed to the next farm.

Unexpected Bonds & A Full Day's Work 💪✨

For the next shift, I worked silently in pairs with a tough-looking female supervisor.
She was intimidating, so I hesitated to start a conversation.

But around 2:00 PM, she called my name in the gentlest voice:
"Aya, I have to go now, so I'll call someone else."

I swear, I was falling for her lol.
She’s so cool.

I wondered if she’d get along with the next person.
I worked silently for the rest of the shift, not even chatting with the Taiwanese supervisor.
But I’m getting much faster now.

We finished at 3:00 PM!
The sense of accomplishment was incredible.

After so many short workdays and unexpected breaks, I was so happy to finally put in a full 7-hour shift.

Evening Reset & Dilemmas 🌅

When I got home, I couldn’t move.
My neck was so stiff.

I took a 30-minute break, then:
✅ Took a shower 🚿
✅ Prepped lunch & breakfast 🍱
✅ Had dinner 🍽️

Later, my friend came home, and we decided to exercise at the park by the bay. 🌊🏃‍♀️
The view was amazing, and I felt like I could finally take a deep breath.
It was the perfect change of pace.

Back home, I relaxed with videos and snacks.
I tried to think about what to do tomorrow, but I was so sleepy—I’d probably pass out by 7:30 PM.

To Move or Not to Move? 🤔

I’m really struggling with whether to move to the tent bungalow.

✅ Reasons to Stay:

• Work-life balance 🏡

• Good relationship with my supervisors 👍

• My efforts are recognized 💪

✅ Reasons to Move:

• More opportunities to earn money 💰

• Better chance to improve my English 🗣️

• Bigger kitchen = More space to cook & bake 🍰

• I love my sharemates

The bungalow is expensive, but comfortable.
I want to try tent life, but is it worth giving up my current routine?

If my goal is to earn money & improve my English, I should move.
But maybe the best option is to stay here and find a better-paying job.

I’m torn.
