航空機の非常事態に備えるATC：小型航空機がエンジン火災を起こしたら

小型航空機の非常事態では、ドア、キャノピーや窓の使い方で、乗員乗客の命運が変わることがあります。空中衝突、エンジン停止・火災、燃料切れなど様々な理由で小型飛行機が滑走路以外に緊急着陸しなければならない時、クラッシュ・ランディングになる可能性があります。そのような状況では素早く全員が機外へ脱出できるよう、ドアを僅かに開けておくと、墜落の衝撃でドアが開かなくなる危険性を減らすことが出来ます。

エンジン火災で緊急着陸する際には、双発機の場合は火災が起きていない側のドアから脱出するのが原則です。ドアがスターボード(進行方向右側)サイドしかなく、右翼の#2エンジンが発火している時には、発火しているエンジンが風下側になるように停止させます。火炎に晒されると、ドアが開けられないばかりか、瞬く間に機体が火炎と有毒ガスに覆われるからです。

When making an emergency landing due to an engine fire, in the case of a twin-engine aircraft, in principle, escape through the door on the side where the fire is not occurring. When the door is only a starboard (to the right of the direction of travel) side and the #2 engine on the right wing is on fire, make a crash landing so that the firing engine is on the leeward side. Because when exposed to flames, not only will the doors not be opened, but the aircraft will be instantly covered in flames and toxic gases.

単発機がエンジン火災で緊急着陸するのは、非常に困難です。発煙で前方が殆ど視認出来なくなり、機内に進入した煙で計器盤も見えなくなるでしょう。そのうち有毒ガスで操縦士はインキャパ状態となって墜落します。こうなりますと、操縦するのが精いっぱいの状況でしょうが、最後まで全力を尽くして操縦を継続すべきです。有毒な煙を機内へ入れないようにすることが肝心で、方位は機体をスリップさせ、高度はフォワード・スリップで急速に処理することで、速やかに地上へ下ろすことを試みます。
