"The Eight Traitors" Founded Silicon Valley 64 Years Ago - PART 1
When you hear the name "Silicon Valley," what comes to mind?
- A high-tech hub?
- An entrepreneur's paradise?
- A land full of competition, yet brimming with opportunities?
- A rebellious spirit, yet a leader of its time?
What you might not know is that unlike many other high-tech industry centers around the world, which are often established with government support, the formation of Silicon Valley aligns perfectly with the entrepreneurial spirit it symbolizes.
Silicon Valley is located in Palo Alto, California. The earliest startup established in this area was Hewlett-Packard (HP) in 1939. At that time, however, the center of the technology industry was firmly held on the East Coast in New York and Boston. It wasn't until 1957 that eight young people, aged between 26 and 33, from various parts of the world, with exceptional talent and a twist of fate, managed to reshape Silicon Valley and influence the next sixty years of global technology and industry.
These eight young individuals earned a formidable nickname in the industry: "The Traitorous 8."
