香港Art Fair出展からベテラン中国画家の展示まで - Miaki最近の挑戦

その１ Art Central 出展

1.Participation in Art Central
3月27-31日、Miaki Galleryが設立からわずか10ヶ月のタイミングで、経営判断として少し無謀と思われるかもしれませんが、世界的に有名な香港のArt Fair、アートセントラルに挑戦してきました。このような大規模なアートフェアに初参加するというのは、予想外の困難が伴うものの、同時に多くの学びや意外な出会いがありました。初めての海外出展でVIPデーでのアウェー感が否めないものの、その後の一般公開で多数のコレクターや他のギャラリーとの友情を築くことができたのは、まさに予期せぬ収穫でした。そして持って行った作品の大部分、売上や高い注目度などの形で評価されたことに何よりの達成感を感じています。
Despite being a relatively new gallery, Miaki Gallery took on the challenge of participating in the prestigious Hong Kong Art Fair, Art Central, only 10 months after our establishment. While stepping into such a major fair for the first time came with its set of unforeseen difficulties, it also opened doors to invaluable experiences, connections with collectors, and friendships with other galleries, which we hadn’t anticipated.

その2 キャリア70年の中国画家の展示

アートセントラルでの様々な出会いの中で特に印象的だったのは、ブースシェアしていた上海のギャラリー、Soumei M50のオーナーの父、黄来鐸氏の作品でした。彼の絵を初めて目にした瞬間、その鮮やかな色使いとモダンな技法に驚かされました。とても90歳近い中国の画家とは思えないほど、彼の作品は若々しく、生き生きとした鮮度を持っています。しかし、作品をじっくりと観察すると、その技術の深みにはただ驚くばかりで、私ごときでは評論することが難しい限りです。

2.Exhibition of a Chinese Painter with a 70-Year Career
Among the most memorable encounters was the artwork of Mr. Huang Laiduo, displayed by Shanghai’s Soumei M50 Gallery, owned by his son. My first impression of Mr. Huang’s work was one of disbelief that these vibrant, modern pieces were created by a 90-year-old Chinese painter. His lively freshness rivals that of much younger artists. Upon closer examination, the depth of his skills is simply astounding and beyond my capacity to critique adequately.

黄氏の画業については、息子である黄さん（Soumei M50のオーナー）から、彼の履歴とドキュメンタリー映画を紹介され、さらに理解を深めることができました。彼は若い頃からソビエト社会主義リアリズムやロシア・アバンギャルドの影響を受けつつ、中国南部の水郷の風景を情熱的に描き続けていました。そして、そのドキュメンタリー映像にも映っているように、船や他の国や文化を超える人工物に対する共通の美的感覚への絶大な情熱を持っています。この情熱は、画家クロード・モネを思わせるような、変わらぬ愛と献身です。
From Mr. Huang's son, I learned more about his career through a documentary film. From his youth, influenced by Soviet Socialist Realism and Russian Avant-Garde, he passionately depicted the landscapes of Southern China's water towns. As shown in the documentary, he also holds a profound passion for boats and other man-made objects that embody a universal aesthetic transcending nations and cultures. This enduring passion is reminiscent of the unwavering love and dedication seen in the works of Claude Monet.

そして、彼が「アートに関する歴史や伝統を学ぶことは大切だが、自己を束縛する既存の枠を破り、学んだ理論を融合して独自の創作を行うことが重要」と語っているように、黄氏は常に新たな表現を模索し続けています。高齢にもかかわらず若い世代に負けない程のチャレンジ精神は、昨年「君たちはどう生きるか」を発表した宮崎駿監督を彷彿とさせます。
Mr. Huang believes in studying art history and traditions extensively, but also in breaking free from conventions to create unique works that integrate all learned theories. His approach and continuous pursuit of new expressions, despite his age, remind me of the spirited approach of director Hayao Miyazaki, who recently released "The Boy and the Heron"

このたび、息子の黄さんを説得し、黄来鐸氏の作品を数点、我がギャラリーで展示する機会を得ることができました。これらは70年以上のキャリアを持つ画家の貴重な作品でありますが、私たちの若いギャラリーの雰囲気に合わせ、より親しみやすい形で展示するために、通常の額装から外しております。ぜひ気軽にご覧いただきたいと思います。
We were fortunate to persuade his son to let us display several of Mr. Huang’s works at our gallery. We have taken them out of their usual frames to match the welcoming atmosphere of our young gallery, hoping to make these significant pieces more accessible. I sincerely hope you will come and experience these exquisite works for yourself.

Miaki Gallery
