①A rich man called Sansho-dayu.

②Because when the children were talking about the ways to escape, Sansyo-dayu's son was listening to their conversation. People who tried to escape were always burnt on their forehead. So the son took the children to his father.

③The marks on their foreheads were gone. Instead, they found a burn mark on the face of the statue.
