かつらお企画室 2022 アーカイブ：身近な植物から葛尾村の色を見つけよう
このワークショップは井上が葛尾村に自生している植物をリサーチすることから始まりました。葛尾村を歩き植物をリサーチした中から、ワークショップを開催する季節や植物の量から使用する草木を決定しました。当日は、身近な植物である「赤麻」 「猪小槌」「大待宵草」の３種類を煮出して布を染め、葛尾村の色を見つけることを試みました。染めた時の模様は、染色技法の中でも一番歴史の古い綴織（こうけち）の板締め絞りを行い模様付けをしました。
作品の完成時には、予想を超えた色や模様を楽しみながら参加者それぞれの作品を見て楽しみました。それぞれの場所に戻っても、葛尾村の色が手ぬぐいとしてだけではなく、参加者の記憶として残っているのではないでしょうか。

Discover the Colours of Katsurao With Common Plants
Inoue began by researching the native plants of Katsurao. She walked around the village and decided which she would use based on the amount of each plant and the season in which the workshop would be held. On the day of the workshop, she and the participants took three common plants, akaso, inokozuchi, and large-flowered evening primrose, and boiled them and dyed fabrics to try and find the colours of Katsurao. She used itajime shibori, a technique from Japan's oldest kokechi style of manual resist dyeing to apply the patterns to the fabric. The patterns and colours of the finished creations exceeded all expectations and the participants enjoyed looking at each other's work. After everyone went home, the colours of Katsurao live on not only as tenugui towels, but in the memories of the workshop participants.
