Polaris and Sirius
札幌市電には、レトロな雰囲気を残す車両に加え、2014年以降に導入された最新型の車両が走っている。「ポラリス」と「シリウス」と名付けられたそれらは、ヨーロッパの都市のトラムにも導入されている車両だ。黒と白のツートンカラーが札幌の街に馴染むのかどうか少し疑問に思っていたのだが、沿線のビルの上階から見下ろすと、そのデザインが雪を乗せた停留所や車の走行跡の残る道路に絶妙にマッチすることがわかった。
In addition to cars that retain a retro atmosphere, Sapporo City Trams run the latest models introduced after 2014. These cars, named "Polaris" and "Sirius," are also used in trams in European cities. I was a little skeptical about whether the two-tone black and white color would blend in with the city of Sapporo, but when I looked down from the upper floors of the buildings along the route, I realized that they were very well-matched to the snow-covered bus stops and the roads with traces of car traffic.
