#35 心を豊かにする街「メルボルン」
これまで，プライベートや仕事で海外に足を伸ばす機会を作ってきました．
大学教員が海外？？
なんて地元の仲間達には突っ込まれますが，実はそうなんです．
主な目的は国際学会に参加すること．
初めて国際学会に参加したのは2013年．
初めての国際学会での発表でした．会場は台湾．
理学療法士になって3年目でした．
自身2回目の海外ということもあり，少しだけ余裕を感じながらでしたが，やっぱり言葉が通じないというのは非常に大きなストレスでした．
もちろん，英語は雰囲気だけ！笑
数人で参加しましたが，もし一人で行っていたなら，，，
何もできなかったでしょうね．．．
それからというもの，タイ，韓国とアジアの国々で国際学会に参加し，それ以外ではアメリカ，カナダ，イタリアと参加してきました．
その中でも個人的に大好きになった街は「メルボルン」でした．
noteユーザーの「高澤けーすけ」さんもおっしゃっていましたが，私も非常にその”寛大さ”に感動を覚えた一人です．
そこで，自分が感じたメルボルンの好きなところを3つだけに厳選すると，

１．Melbourne smile
写真を撮っていなかった．．．．
最大の後悔．．
本当に多くの行き交う人が目を合うたびに笑顔で「Hi！」と挨拶してくれるんです．
日本の小学校などでも挨拶は元気よく笑顔で！と教えていると思いますが，本当に素敵な笑顔で挨拶をしてもらえるんです．
これがものすごく心地よいんです．
海外の特に欧米ではこの傾向にあると感じています．
アジアの国ではあまりそれを感じませんでした．
欧米では，目が合うと本当に素敵な笑顔と共に「Hi！」なんです．
日本では，「おはようございます」「お疲れ様です」
って真顔じゃないですか？
真顔じゃなくても，笑顔ではないですよね？？
でも，自分はこれを経験してからなるべく笑顔で挨拶するようにしています．そうです．Melbourne smileに負けないくらいのJapanese smileです．
いや，Niigata smileです．
２．Beautiful and calm down
これもメルボルンの本当に大きな魅力だと思います．
街並みが本当に綺麗で，洗練されているのですが，ちょっと目を外すとスタイリッシュなビル群があり，そしてその近くには市場があったり，歴史的な建物があったり．
それでいて行き交う人たちは穏やかでせかせかしていない．
本当に素敵な街．

そして，食事！！！
自分は甘いものよりも塩味やうま味を好むのですが，本当にどれもこれも美味しかった．
お酒ももちろん，特にオーストラリアンワインはとっても好きになりました．日本でも売っている，「イエローテイル」が現地で飲んだワインと似てると感じます．
そして，オージービーフ！！！
美味しかったですねーーー！！
ぜひ，またいただきたい！
とはいえ！
学会に参加してることが主目的ですので，旅行や羽目を外すなんてことはこれっぽっちも考えていないわけで．学びの先にある修学旅行的な要素があると理解していただけたら幸いです．
ちなみに，医師の先生方は家族同伴で参加されていることが多く，あれは奥様？それとも．．的な雰囲気も感じますが，それはさておき，学びを得に来た全ての方々と目があったら，

I have had the opportunity to travel abroad on both a personal and professional basis. A university faculty member abroad? My local colleagues may be surprised to hear that I have traveled abroad, but in fact, I have. The main purpose is to attend international conferences. The first time I attended an international conference was in 2013. It was my first presentation at an international conference. The venue was in Taiwan.

It was the second time for me to go abroad, so I felt a little relaxed, but it was still very stressful not being able to communicate in English. Of course, my English was just for the atmosphere! I was with a few people, but if I had gone alone, I would not have been able to do anything.
Since then, I have attended international conferences in Thailand, Korea, and other Asian countries, as well as in the United States, Canada, and Italy.
Among them, Melbourne was my personal favorite city.
As mentioned by note user “Kesuke Takazawa”, I was one of the people who were very impressed by the “generosity” of the people in Melbourne.
What I like about Melbourne is: 1. Melbourne smile 2. Beautiful and calm down 3.

I didn't take any photos ．．．． My biggest regret ....
However, many people greet me with a smile and a “Hi!” whenever we make eye contact. I think they teach “Greetings with a smile” at elementary schools in Japan, too! I think they teach this at elementary schools in Japan, too, but I was greeted with a really nice smile.
This is especially true in Europe and the U.S. I have found this to be the case in other countries. I didn't feel it so much in Asian countries.
In the West, when our eyes meet, we get a really nice smile and a “Hi! I don't think it is easy to experience this feeling if you are in Japan.
But after experiencing this, I try to greet people with a smile as much as possible. Yes, a Japanese smile as big as the Melbourne smile. No, it's a Niigata smile. 2.
Beautiful and calm down
I think this is one of the most attractive points of Melbourne. The city is really beautiful and sophisticated, but if you look away for a moment, you can see stylish buildings, and near them are markets and historical buildings. And yet the people are not rushed. It's a really nice city. I think it's easier to see the actual pictures than to write about it, so I'll try to show you some of them.

And the meals! I prefer salty and umami to sweet food, but all the food was really delicious. Of course, I also liked the drinks, especially the Australian wines. I feel that “yellow tail”, which is sold in Japan, is similar to the wine I drank there.

However...! The main purpose of attending the conference is to participate in the conference, so I don't think of it as a trip or a getaway in any way. I hope you understand that there is an element of a school trip that goes beyond learning.
By the way, many of the doctors are accompanied by their families. Or.... But that aside, when I make eye contact with all the people who have come to learn, I say “Hi!
