#38 大自然と世界最高峰の学び
先日，オーストラリア・メルボルンの魅力についてお伝えしました．本当に素敵な街で絶対に行くべき！と本気で思う国の一つだと私は思います．
そして今回は，そのメルボルンの素敵さとはまたちょっと違う素敵な国を紹介したいと思います．
その国に訪れたのは2018年．
COVID-19がパンデミックとなる前年でした．
もちろん，訪れた時はまさかそのような世界的な感染爆発が起きることなんて予想もできず，ただただ異国の地で学ぶことだけしか考えられていませんでした．
本当に何が起こるか予想つかない．．
だからこそ，やっぱり
思い出というか，やりたいことがあるのであれば，やれるうちにやった方が良い！！！
そう強く思います．
さて，2018年に訪れたこの国ですが，
非常に自然豊かで広大な国立公園を有し，留学先としても人気の高い国であります．
学会会場となったのは下記！
その名も「フェアモントバンフスプリングホテル」

すごくないですか！？？
ハリーポッターに登場してくるような世界観だと感じました．
もう大興奮で，外観だけでも十分素敵すぎました．
そして，なんとこのホテルには世界的大女優も訪れていて，
すごいですよね！！！
大興奮した結果，
やっちゃいました笑
いや，そりゃしますでしょーー！
異国の地で学会で言ってるけど，
そりゃしますよーー！！
モンローさんがやってたこと，立ってたであろう場所に自分がいる．．
ものすごいロマンを感じました．
最高でした．本当に．
スコアなんか関係なしです．
それよりも大きかったのが，現地の方と一緒にラウンドしたこと！
私は一緒に行った先生と2人でラウンドしていたのですが，なんと後から1人で回っている方が追いついてこられまして，途中から一緒にやろうよ！と．
なんてノリ．．笑
9ホールしかしなかったので，最後の3-4ホールだったでしょうか．
写真こそ撮れませんでしたが，思いがけない出会いでとっても楽しかった！！
これぞ，海外！
会場からホテルまでは徒歩で20分くらいでしたでしょうか．
道中は観光地ということもあり，多くの観光客（自分含め）がいました．
ロッキー山脈を見ながら歩くだけでも，とっても心躍りました．
そして学会会場に入ると，素敵の演出が．．．
生演奏でお出迎えをしくれたのです．
これは本当に驚きでした．
何より，この生演奏してくれている空間にはポスター発表のためのエリアも用意されていて，音楽と学びの融合だったわけです．
そしてそして，このエリアにもう一つあったのは，
なんと，BAR笑
お酒を飲みながらポスターを見て，生演奏を聴く
日本国内の学会にしか参加したことがない方々からすると，本当に衝撃だと思います．
自分自身，とっても衝撃を受けました．
こういうことが”自由”ってことなのかなとも思いました．
学会会場は会場外観の如く，非常に重厚で気品があり，その空間にいること自体，非常に誇りであると思えるほどでした．
セッションが始まり，演者が話し始めるとお祭り雰囲気だった会場が一変！一気に学びの空気になり，しかし発表が終わると盛大な拍手に笑顔，笑い声，口笛，
なんと言ったら良いのか，非常にメリハリがある空間だったように思います．
ちなみに，セッションは7:30からスタートし，12:00には終了です．
その後は参加者でツアーに行きました．
参加費に含まれているツアーで，食事付き．
カナダの大自然を満喫させていただきました．
ドクターペッパーが大好きな私は，ホテル近くのスーパーでこんなものまで発見しました．
2リットルのドクターペッパー！！！笑
すごいですねー！！
滞在1週間しかなかったので，1本で我慢しました．

カルガリー国際空港から車で1時間ちょっとの場所にある，「バンフ」．
空港からバンフまでは地元の観光バスで行きました．
Banff Jasper で調べると出てきます．
カルガリー国際空港では，日本語を話せるスタッフの方が多くいて，入国審査は英語ですが，非常にオープンな空港という印象でした．
そのカルガリー国際空港までは，成田空港から10時間半くらいでしたでしょうか．
Air CANADAで非常に快適な空の旅でした．
幸運なことにブッキングにより行きの飛行機はビジネスクラス！！
自然豊かすぎて人も食事も最高な街，バンフ．
1日の寒暖差は大きく，日中は半袖，夜はダウン．
そんな経験もなかなかできません．
噂で運が良ければオーロラが見えると聞き，夜，1人で外に出ましたが，思いの外若い集団がたくさんいて，ビビリの自分はものの10分程度でホテル戻り笑
もちろん，オーロラは見えませんでした．．．．
いつか見たい！！
ちなみに，費用は
学会参加：80,000円程度
旅費：320,000円程度
宿泊費：60,000円程度
※滞在期間：6日間
という内訳でした．
金額はそれなりの額だと思いますが，もう一度行きたくなる街だったということは間違いなく言えます．

I visited there in 2018, the year before COVID-19 became a pandemic. Of course, when I visited there, I had no idea that such a global outbreak of infection would occur, and all I could think about was learning in a foreign country. You really can't predict what will happen.

Isn't it amazing? It looks like something out of Harry Potter, doesn't it? I was so excited. Just the outside of the hotel is amazing.
And to my surprise, the world's greatest actresses have visited this hotel.

No, you would do that! I'm talking about at a conference in a foreign country, but that's what you would do!
That's what you would do where Mr. Monroe was doing it!
It was great. It was really great. This is a conference, not a school trip.
It took about 20 minutes on foot from the venue to the hotel. There were many tourists (including myself) on the way, as it was a sightseeing spot.

Just walking while looking at the Rocky Mountains was very exciting.
And when I entered the conference venue, there was a wonderful performance....

They welcomed us with live music. This was a real surprise. What's more, in the space where the live music was playing, there was also an area for poster presentations, a fusion of music and learning! And there was one more thing in this area...

For those of you who have only attended conferences in Japan, this must be a real shock. I myself was very shocked.
I also thought that this is what “freedom” means.
I love Dr. Pepper, and I even found this at a supermarket near the hotel.

Since I only had one week to stay in Japan, I had to settle for just one bottle.

Banff” is located a little over an hour drive from Calgary International Airport. I took a local sightseeing bus from the airport to Banff, which can be found by looking up Banff Jasper.
At Calgary International Airport, there are many Japanese speaking staffs, and although immigration is in English, I had an impression that it is a very open airport.
From Calgary International Airport to Banff
It took about 10 hours and a half from Narita Airport to Calgary International Airport.
It was a very comfortable flight by Air CANADA.
Luckily, the flight to Banff was business class due to a booking!
Banff is a city with too much nature, people, and food.
The temperature difference between the day and the night is huge, with short sleeves during the day and down at night. Such an experience is not easy to come by.
And the cost is as follows
Conference participation: about 80,000 yen Travel: about 320,000 yen Accommodation: about 60,000 yen *Duration of stay: 6 days
The breakdown was as follows.
I think the amount of money is reasonable, but I can say without a doubt that it was a city that I would like to visit again.
